50 hues of heartbreak

Chapter 1 the day after

I remember waking up the day after we found out my mind was foggy and I remember the news my father told me, My Boyfriend was killed in a car accident. I pulled myself out of bed groggily looking around letting my eyes adjust to the light that was flooding in through my window, I felt sick to my stomach Thoughts running through my mind. I took a few deep breaths trying to calm myself as I heard footsteps approaching my door. "Delilah It's time to get up." I could hear dad say, "I'm up." I said softly before walking to my closest. I looked through my clothes and decided on a white turtleneck and A velvet blue Skirt and Ethan's letterman Jacket.  I slipped out of my Baby pink nightgown slowly putting on my Outfit for the day, I looked through my sock drawer and settled on a pair of cream colored socks, I slipped them over my feet before putting on my White converse. Running downstairs and into the kitchen I'm met with the sweet smell of pancakes and syrup "De hurry and eat something so you and your sisters aren't late. Lyle has already left." Mom said standing at the stove "Ok Where's dad?" I asked before sitting down at the table Next to Sierra, "your father just left to meet with the Police'' I looked at my mother as she spoke "Momma why is daddy talking to the police?" My youngest sister Valerie asked, shoving a bite of pancakes into her mouth. "Well Dear he has to discuss business," my mother tried to explain calmly, trying not to upset me. I watched as Valerie, unbothered by what my mother said, shove a huge bite of pancake into her mouth. I look away from Valerie and to my sister Sierra since she was being rather silent today, "Are you alright kid you're awfully quiet this morning." I said, breaking my silence, "I'm fine just thinking De." She said quietly, trying not to look up from the table, "Care to elaborate?" I questioned, pushing to get her to open up. Sierra stayed quiet for a moment before saying quietly "Just about Ethan" She turned to look at me as I looked at the table processing what she just said. My mom went silent as well and just looked at Sierra with a bit of a shocked expression before grabbing Valerie's plate putting it into the sink. I got up before grabbing my car keys and back pack and going out to my Jeep in the driveway not long after Valerie and Sierra walked out the door getting into the car and I drove them to school in silence
