Sunny shook his head, letting his dark hair settle into its usual position. Whenever he put on headphones, they messed up his hair a bit. He heard Mari talking downstairs, seeming to be on the phone. Sunny took the opportunity to check if everything in his mother's room was in order.

That was where she seemed to have fled, after all. Everything in order, at least as far as Sunny could tell. There were only some articles missing, which could easily be explained.

A missing toolbox, which Sunny thought might've just been moved when mom bought a painting last month. The luggage bags and suitcase that were missing were a lot more obvious as to why they vanished. His mom was gone for a reason, after all.

Overall, rather benign. Sunny left the doorway and moved downstairs. He carefully looked around where Mari was standing, seeing no toolbox or tool in her hand.

No murder. Phew. Sunny placed his foot onto the floor at the end of the stairs, drawing Mari's attention.

She knocked on the wall beside her. "Oh, sorry mom, someone's at the door. Gotta go!" Her voice sounded cheery, but her face was cold and seemingly angry.

Mari hung up the phone and got a small smirk on her face. Her clothes were still somewhat lacking, now just wearing a baggy shirt over her lingerie. "Look, Sunny, I know you think you aren't straight. Basil must've put some stupid idea in your head, but I'm telling you, I can fix you. Whether you want me to or not."

The last part freaked Sunny out a bit more than the rest, but his face remained calm. "Basil hasn't done anything to me. The only one who is hurting me is you."

Mari's face twitched. "You think I'm hurting you? Oh, I'll show you what it feels like when I'm hurting you." She grabbed Sunny's shoulder and punched him in the stomach.

"Does that hurt? Huh?" Mari asked. Sunny only coughed in response, seeming to make her angrier. She grabbed Sunny's neck and slammed him into the ground.

Sunny coughed, some blood going with it. "What the fuck..." he groaned.

Mari came close to Sunny's face. "Do you understand, now? I'm not trying to hurt you. I love you, Sunny. I'm going to help you." Mari spoke before kissing Sunny on the lips, shoving her tongue into his mouth.

Sunny felt sick and shoved her off him desperately. "See? You're already trying to touch my boobs. You're becoming normal again!"

Sickened, Sunny ran out the door, not even bothering to put his shoes on. It was summer, anyway.

Some running later, Sunny was at Basil's house. He just unconsciously ran there. Basil was outside, talking to his flowers, apparently, as he watered them. His blonde hair shone in the sunlight. It made Sunny feel more reassured seeing his friend.

"I dunno, Mr. Bleeding Heart, what if he doesn't like me back?" He overheard as he walked over. He was tempted for a moment to eavesdrop... on the plant conversation. He decided against it. "Hi, Basil!"

"Eep!" Basil squealed in shock, not expecting Sunny evidently, "Sunny! You scared me!"

Sunny laughed for a moment, before recalling why he was there. "Um... Mari hurt me... so I was hoping I could stay overnight..?"

Basil gasped. "What did she do to you?"

"N-No, not like that. She just punched me... and threw me into the ground." Sunny swallowed nervously, tasting blood.

"G-GAHH! I hate her! I can't believe she'd do that! I'm gonna fucking kill her!" Basil shouted, frustrated.

Sunny put his hand into Basil's. "It's okay. I'm fine... everything is okay..."

"No, it's not! She shouldn't hurt you like that!" Basil said angrily.

Sunny stayed silent. He wasn't that great with words. Basil picked up on what he wanted to say, though. "Sorry for getting so mad... she just... it pisses me off that she'd do something like that to you! Let's go inside..."

The pair walked inside, Polly quickly greeting Sunny again. "Welcome back, Sunny! How are you today?"

"Good." Sunny lied. Nobody really wants to hear bad unless they're ready to hear some whole stupid backstory about their day. Sunny didn't want to have a whole conversation, and Polly looked busy.

After reaching Basil's room, the bright haired boy reached for his gardening toolbox. "Here's something you can defend yourself with!"

"No, no, I don't want to stab her or something, Basil." Sunny quickly exclaimed.

"This isn't sharp. It's a thing I made on my own to make little holes to put seeds into!" Basil demonstrated, "You click this button..." The mechanism, made from a school chair's leg and a similarly sized plank of wood, threw the chair leg forward. "Then, after you pressed that, you can rearm it by putting the leg back here." Basil moved the chair leg back behind the wood and clicked it into something.

"Uh huh." Sunny sort of understood. It was a pretty simple mechanism, so he'd probably understand it. Sunny noticed the clock. 1:46 pm. It felt later than that, for some reason.

"Let's play some minecraft together! You'll have to ask Polly to use her PC, though..." Basil smiled.

"That sounds fun." Sunny commented. He walked to the living room where Polly was on her phone, using email probably, considering her typing.

"Hey, Miss Polly, can I use your computer? Me and Basil wanted to play Minecra-"

"Sure, sure, but I have to be on there by 7." Polly interrupted. She seemed stressed about something.

Sunny walked towards Polly's room and looked at her PC. He sat in her chair and turned on the PC.
