Sunny froze as he saw the figure. This frozen state was broken by Basil, pointing out what should have been obvious.

"Is- Is that a knife?"

Sunny grimaced in fear and pulled Basil back into his room. "Okay, okay, we have... we have t- we can defend ourselves, we have your tools..." Sunny explained, seemingly to himself more than Basil, "We can defend ourselves."

As if hearing Sunny finish talking, the person outside smashed the glass sliding door and could be heard cutting the screen from the screen door. "Oh- Oh gosh, Sunny, what do we do?"

"What is your sharpest tool!?" Sunny queried in panic.

"Th-This!" Basil said, showing a pair of small pruning shears. Sunny snatched it and took a breath before leaving the room to confront the threat.

Mari.

The girl wore her old white sundress. She looked like a corpse come to life, with her lifeless eyes. "I'm going to kill Basil. Get out of my way." Mari proclaimed.

"Wh-Where's Polly? Did you hurt her?" Sunny asked.

"Sending her dad money. He needs it after he got deported. Get out of my way, baby brother." Mari demanded.

Sunny brandished the shears. "No." He tried to sound firm and unshaken.

"Then die with him." Mari suddenly rushed at Sunny, stabbing at him. Sunny barely avoided her strike. His shirt got ripped at the bottom, meaning Mari definitely meant business. Business being murder, specifically.

Sunny was hesitant to strike at Mari, allowing Mari to strike again, this time stabbing at Sunny in the side of his abdomen. She missed, only cutting his shirt and slightly slicing his side. The pain was enough for Sunny to try and strike back.

A weak stab at Mari's wrist. It barely even cut her. Mari lunged at Sunny, stabbing him in the arm.

"You're so cute! Even when you're bleeding! I can't wait to get you to the hospital! I'll tell them all about the evil murderer I stopped!" Mari bragged.

"I'll... I won't LET YOU!" Sunny suddenly raised his voice as he stabbed Mari in the shoulder and pulled his blade back out. Mari yelped and pulled back, allowing Sunny to kick her off of him. He saw Basil at the end of the hall watching fearfully. That was when he realized. He kicked her towards Basil. Mari slowly stood up and then looked to her left at Basil.

She prepared a stab as Basil scrambled away. Sunny charged at her to stop her from hurting Basil. She dodged, making him stab the wall. She immediately slashed into his arm.

"Fuck!" Sunny exclaimed in pain. Mari entered Basil's room, and a familiar sound came out. The sound of the makeshift holemaker tool, followed by the sound of Mari collapsing onto the floor.

"I'm going to fucking kill you!" She claimed as she began to stand up. Sunny held his blade to her throat.

"No, you aren't. Stay still." Sunny said through gritted teeth.

Mari smiled and stabbed Sunny in the stomach over her shoulder. Sunny made good on his threat, slitting her throat, before crying out in pain.

"Sunny!" Basil rushed to his side, "I'll go call an ambulance, don't worry!"

"See you in hell, little brubber." Mari gurgle out. She seemed to promptly drown on her own blood.

Sunny held his stomach, and took out the knife, helping the pain a little. This evidently was the wrong thing to do, as blood began pouring out of the wound.

"Oh gosh, yes um, 871 Mud Lake Road, Faraway. My friend is bleeding out. Please send an ambulance!" Basil plead.

Sunny held his stomach as he felt light-headed. "Basil, I think I might die."

"N-No, no, don't say that! Stay awake!" Basil begged.

Sunny did not comply. He drifted into a deep sleep as he met with the great endless emptiness of death...

Or so he thought.

After a while of absolute nothingness, Sunny awoke in a hospital bed. Aubrey, Kel, Basil, and even Hero were there.

"Wh- Where am I? Is Mari dead? Did Basil tell you guys what happened?" Sunny asked in shock at the seemingly sudden change in location.

"You're at the Guangzhou General Hospital, Sunny." Basil explained calmly as he held Sunny's hand.

"Yeah, Basil explained everything. Mari was a real psycho! Who knew?" Kel said with an awkward expression.

"I did, but you didn't believe me." Hero said with an eyeroll.

"Yeah, but not murder psycho!" Kel enunciated.

"I guess." Hero conceded.

Aubrey slapped her face, "C'mon, Sunny just woke up after almost a whole month, and you guys are arguing about who knew Mari was a psycho?!"

Kel made a sheepish smile, "Oh, yeah... sorry, Sunny."

"Sorry, Sunny." Hero repeated.

"That's like a tongue twister! Sorrysunnysorrysunnysorrysunnysnorry- see?" Kel smiled.

"It's... it's been a month? Is my mom okay?" Sunny asked.

"She's been, uh, depressed. I can't blame her." Hero shrugged. "Losing one kid and almost losing the other has to be hard. What about you, Sunny? Are you okay?"

Sunny thought for a moment. Everything that happened. How every little thing Mari did to him affected him. He looked into Basil's eyes, and tightened his grip on his hand.

"I think I'll be okay."
