Aria's pov:-

I woke up to my phone buzzing with an invitation from Natalia.

"Hey, our first class is cancelled, want to grab something at that bakery near university?" she suggested.

I agreed, and we made plans to meet up.

Nat offered me a ride, but I declined.

Though I knew how to drive, a lingering fear held me back. Xavier's suggestion to have a driver seemed prudent.

After completing my morning routine, I dressed and prepared to leave.

Shelbi intercepted me.

"Aria, wait a bit," she said.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"Take this," Shelbi handed me a set of keys.

"Your brother told me to give you these. You were asleep."

"He wants you to check the apartment after class, see if you want to make any changes," she explained.

The apartment - a surprise from Teddy, undergoing renovation.

"Oh, okay, I will," I said.

"You don't have work today?" I asked, noticing Shelbi's unusual presence at home.

"Yeah, I wasn't feeling well, took a day off," she replied.

Before I could offer further concern, Shelbi retreated into her room.

"Well, take care," I said, but she was already gone.

With the keys in hand, I headed out.

My meeting with Natalia awaited.

★★★

As Natalia and I stepped into the bakery, the aroma of freshly baked goods enveloped us, tantalizing our senses.

The bustling atmosphere was infectious, with university students laughing and chatting over plates of mouthwatering treats.

"Wow, it smells amazing here," I exclaimed.

Natalia smiled. "Told you."

The crowd was substantial, but fortunately, the counter was quiet.

"Come on, let's order," Natalia said, nudging me forward.

We perused the display case, where rows of golden-brown pastries and colorful cakes and cookies beckoned.

"What do you want?" Natalia asked.

I opted for a slice of hot cross buns, a slice of coffee cake, and a rich latte.

Natalia placed her order, and we secured a cozy spot by the window.

As we settled in, I couldn't help but feel a growing affinity for this charming town.

Only a few days in, and I was already finding my footing.

The bakery's warm ambiance and friendly chatter made it an ideal haven.

Our orders arrived, and the first bite of hot cross bun melted in my mouth.

The coffee cake's subtle flavors complemented the latte's bold richness.

"Delicious," I sighed, savoring the taste.

Natalia grinned, nodding in agreement.

Our conversation flowed effortlessly, accompanied by the soothing hum of the bakery.
