"Brother, I wouldn't mind though," Iven said with a sly grin, ever the enthusiast for nights out with girls.
Typical Iven.
"Yeah, I can see that," I replied, my focus on our business. "By the way, have you checked the shipment yet?"
I scanned my phone for updates on our new operation.
"Yeah, Rico's handling it," Iven said. "After the last time, nobody will dare mess with us."
Exactly why I'd built my power and reputation.
"This time, I want the guy alive and in front of me," I emphasized.
Iven nodded. "Yes, boss."
He handed me the hard drive and departed.
I scrutinized the contents, finding nothing suspicious.
"Looks like we're on track," I murmured, confidence growing.
Our mission, entrusted to TE, would proceed flawlessly.
Exhaustion weighed me down as I shut my computer, the midnight hour staring back at me from my watch. No wonder my stomach growled with hunger.
At TE headquarters, my team and I had tackled urgent matters, successfully completing our task. Now, it was time to head home.
As I descended the stairs, routine kicked in. I pulled out my phone to check on her whereabouts. TE's demands had kept me preoccupied; I'd neglected my usual checks.
Why did I bother? She was just another client, protected by my assigned guards.
Yet, my mind whispered, "Maybe you know why."
I sighed, acknowledging the truth. Yes, I knew.
Her face flashed in my mind, and with it, a mix of emotions I couldn't shake.
My gaze lingered on the phone screen, searching for updates on her safety.
As soon as I opened my phone, my eyes scanned the screen, and my world imploded.
Rage coursed through my veins like liquid fire. I couldn't contain it.
I reacted instinctively, snatching my keys and racing to my bike. The engine roared to life beneath me.
Tires screeched, rubber burning against asphalt, as I accelerated into the night.
"Fucking hell!" I growled, fury boiling over.
If some motherfucker dared to touch her...
My grip on the wheel tightened. Protectiveness surged through me.
★Author's pov-
Dmitriy's bike devoured the distance, his mind consumed by Aria's presence. Unrelenting fear gripped him, and he couldn't shake the feeling.
Why this sudden dread?
He linked to Cody's location, Aria's tracker eerily silent. Familiar roads unwound before him.
As he arrived, his heart sank. Two cars encircled Aria's, sinister intentions clear.
But where were the other bodyguards? They should have been here by now.
Dmitriy parked his bike, yanked off his helmet, and drew his gun.
With fluid precision, he joined Cody.
"Sir...?" Cody began, startled by his boss's unexpected arrival.
But one glance at Dmitriy's set face silenced him.
