I woke up leaning on my...boyfriend's chest. He was sleeping so peacefully while I was smiling because he asked me to be together. It still seemed so unreal. I tried not to move so as not to wake him up. It was only 5 in the morning. I couldn't resist but gently touched his hair with my fingers. He made a purring sound and adjusted himself so now he was lying on my chest. I caressed the soft skin of his back, but I felt dozens of knots under the skin. He didn't give me the impression that he was in pain. I kissed his forehead and hugged him.

"Why are you awake?" he asked me quietly.

"I can't sleep anymore. You rest some more. You still have a little less than an hour to get up."

"Valentine, you don't have to go to work if you don't want to. Viper will understand." he said and looked at me. He was extremely worried and somewhat protective.

"I want to go. If I don't feel good or comfortable, I'll let you know I'm leaving. Is that okay?"

"Of course, Cinderella." he replied and kissed me. He settled back on my chest and I continued to caress him. I felt so safe. The alarm clock rang and we both jumped. I turned it off as Ron grumbled about having to get up. As a pilot, he had to be registered at the base at 6:30 AM because his first lecture starts at 7 AM and the flight immediately follows the lecture. I memorized the schedule from Viper's office. Lotty prepared breakfast for him and I accompanied him to the terrace. He started towards the car and came back to me to kiss me. I smiled leaning against the fence as I watched his car disappear from view. I returned to the house to have breakfast and prepare myself for work. Lotty and I jumped into the car and sped off to work. We got into the elevator, followed by Maverick, who Lotty was smiling at, and he was smiling at her. I just rolled my eyes. We got out of the elevator, but Maverick called my name. I turned around and saw him standing with his arms crossed over his chest.

"I see you're not thrilled with me. Maybe because you're my rival's girlfriend or because I like Charlie?" was his question.

"Maverick, right? Slider and Iceman have nothing to do with this and neither does Charlie. I'm just…I'm just not a fan of someone rushing to their death. You're young. You're going to kill someone. Or yourself." I told him.

"I'm a danger. Iceman knows that too. My father was also a pilot. So I know what I'm doing."

"No, you think you know what you're doing." I answered him.

I felt hands on my waist and turned over my shoulder to see Ron behind me.

"Problem?" Ron asked me looking at Maverick.

"No. We're just having a pleasant conversation." I told him and kissed the sharp line of his jaw.

"If you say so." he answered me. Maverick nodded to me and left. Ron watched him go. I took him gently by the chin and directed him to look at me.

"Promise me you won't cause problems. No arguments, fights and insults. Okay?" I told him and smoothed the suit on his shoulders.

"I promise. I have to go now." he said and kissed my cheek. I entered Viper's office and he gave me a mysterious smile. I blushed. I didn't know if I should say something.

"You're calming him down. That's good. He and Iceman are first in training." Viper said.

"I'm glad to hear that, sir. Although I'm worried about Maverick. He says he knows what he's doing. I'm afraid he'll hurt himself." I said honestly.

"I know, Valentine. We all know that." he sighed.

I helped him with the papers and Viper got ready for training. I stayed in his office because he let me work at his desk. Planes flew over the base and one flew so low that the whole base shook. I covered my head with my hands in fear.
