Love on the third

Since Ron arrived home, my days have been filled with joy. Every millimeter of my skin was kissed with care and a reminder was left in the sign of a bite. Ron had long gone to the base, and I had the weekend off. I cleaned the whole house looking at the dark clouds through the window. Rain was coming and the cold wind was cooling me.
The rain always made me think about everything I've been through. I came here as an addition to Lotty, and after two months I became an independent analyst. Of course, with Viper's help and support. Lotty went to Washington, and recently she told me she broke up with Maverick. I was mad at her for using him for information about that damn MIG he saw with Goose. Oh and Goose. That gentle giant. The angel who follows us smiling from the clouds. I believe she must be chuckling that Lotty left Maverick. As far as I understood, he was telling him not to mess with her. I also thought about mom and dad. So I wanted to tell them that I promised myself to the man I love. But it doesn't matter to them. I took a sip of tea and immediately ran to the bathroom. I remember throwing up my soul. I washed myself and heard the phone ring.

"Beautiful Cinderella. How are you?" I heard Ron's voice and whistles in the background.

"Not the best. I seem to have caught a virus. Maybe you should stay in the accommodation with Tom?"

"Virus? You looked fine this morning. Poor thing. How are you?" he sounded worried.

"I know. I don't know what's wrong with me."

"Hmm. I'll come look after you. No objections. I have to go now. I love you." he said and ended the call.

I stayed lying down and nibbled on crackers that soothed my stomach. There was a knock on the door and I got up slowly to open it. Carole and little Bradley surprised me on the doorstep.

"Auntie!" Bradley screamed and jumped around my waist.

"Hey, baby. What a surprise." I said ruffling his hair.

"Bad timing?" Carole asked.

"Not at all. I'm just not sure if I picked up some kind of stomach bug. I don't want to infect him." I nodded at Bradley who was sitting at the table eating crackers and grapes.

"Don't worry. He's tougher than steel. At two he was eating dirt and eating cat food." Carole joked and hugged me. We talked about how she is and how the preparations for my big day are going. All this tired Bradley who fell asleep on the couch on the terrace hugging the toy jet that Goose had given him when they came to base.
I explained to her how I felt and that she should not be angry if I ran to the bathroom.

"Darling, I don't want to pressure you, but are you sure you're not...you know...?" Carole asked me quietly.

"You mean…that I…" I stuttered as Carole grinned bouncing on the couch in excitement. I got up and looked at the calendar next to the phone. I counted the days and...shock. I am 8 days late. By the way, I'm one of those women whose periods are as accurate as a Swiss watch. I panicked instantly. There was another knock on the door that brought me back from my trance. This time my sister Charlotte was at the door holding a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers.

"Lotty? You're back?" I said and burst into tears on her shoulder.

"I can't let you plan the wedding alone." she told me. She recognized Carole so they greeted each other. She expressed her condolences for Goose, and Carole immediately explained to her what she had interrupted. Lotty burst into tears without shame and immediately calmed down by rushing to the pharmacy. She came back in about ten minutes and handed me a bag with a pregnancy test. I went upstairs to do it in peace. I did everything according to the instructions and left the room from the bathroom. I came back after a few minutes with such a step as if I was expecting an attack from some kind of monster. And it was there. A huge plus on the test. I took the stick and started crying. My child. Fruit of our love. I knew exactly where this happened. I started laughing at myself.

I slowly went down the stairs holding my palm on my stomach. I nodded affirmatively to both of them, to which they both jumped and screamed with joy, and on the way, they also woke up Bradley, but he just turned to the other side. All three of us hugged. I couldn't feel the ground under my feet. I was very scared.

"When are you going to tell him?" Lotty asked me.

"I'm not sure. I want it to be special. For him to remember." I answered. Carole told me that she had to go home to make dinner for Bradley and that we would definitely talk to each other. She offered to help me with anything I needed. I was left alone with Lotty and she went to take a shower, and I made an appointment with the doctor for an examination. I wanted to be sure I was pregnant and I was wondering how long.

"Promise you won't tell him anything when he comes." I said to Lotty holding her hands. A tear slid down her cheek.

"Of course I won't. My little sister. You're becoming a real woman." she told me and hugged me. I felt nausea and the urge to vomit again because of her perfume, which I used to steal from her when she was working at this base. Ron soon came to find me on the couch dozing on Lotty's lap.

"How is she? She's been vomiting a lot? Does she have a fever?" Ron asked a series of questions.

"Take it easy, pilot. She's fine. She threw up a few times and has no other symptoms." Lotty answered him playing with my hair.

I immediately woke up and said, whispered Lotty, leave us alone. As soon as she stood up, Ron sat down next to me and pulled me onto his shoulder. He kissed the back of my head and hugged me because he was worried beyond measure.

"I was so worried. Tom and I are staying at this base. We were told we were needed. How are you? Are you still sick?" he told me, brushing stray hair from my face.

"That's good. And I'm staying as ordered. Ron, listen, I'll understand if you don't want to and if you want to leave. But this nausea and this vomiting . . ."

"What are you saying? You're confusing me." he interrupted me.

"Ron…dear…I'm pregnant. I took a test." I told him and placed his palm on my stomach. Ron just stared at his palm on my stomach without saying a word. I expected him to get up at any moment and say that he was breaking off the engagement. That was the scenario in my head. He stood up and knelt before me. He lifted my shirt and kissed my stomach and rested his cheek on it. Tears were rolling down his face. That made me cry.

"I promise, I swear, I'll be the best dad in the world, baby. Just grow up. Daddy's waiting for you." he whispered.

"Oh, Ron. My pilot."

"And I swear to you that you will never lack for anything. You will never want for anything. I love you, Valentine. I want to hasten the wedding."

"We can hurry. A little formal ceremony with our friends."

"I'm going to ask Tom and Maverick to be our best man at the wedding." he said wiping the tears from his cheeks.

"And I'm going to ask Carole to be my maid of honor next to Lotty at the wedding."

That's how we arranged everything. Without coercion. Everything is so so natural. Our love above all.

 Our love above all
