Finally! I got a call from the aircraft carrier that Ron was coming home. They are coming to the port before noon today. I knew it would be crowded. I wore a black denim dress that buttoned up the front. Lotty left it to me. I put on low white tennis shoes and my favorite socks with a frill. Sarah picked me up and they drove to the harbor. There we were met by quite a crowd, and the pilots were already getting off the ship. I pushed through the crowd.
"Ron! Ron? Pilot?" I called out. I didn't see him anywhere, so I turned around. At that moment, there were palms on my hips. Male, strong palms that pulled me to him. I didn't turn around. I knew it was him.
"You won't look at me?" he whispered.
"I don't have to. I know it's you." I answered.
I turned and hugged him as hard as I could, sobbing into his neck. He lifted me into the air.
"I missed you so fucking much. There wasn't a second when I didn't think about you. When I wasn't flying, I just looked at the handkerchief you gave me and read the message over and over again." he said looking at me.
"I love you. I love you." was my answer.
The welcome was done and all the pilots had to return to the base.
"Love, there is a welcome party at the bar tonight. We won't be able to be together until then because I have to go to the base." Ron said as I was still in his arms.
"Of course. I'm waiting for you there. I'm expecting a dance, just so you know."
"Cinderella, everything for you. You're dangerous, you know? I'm a little...you know..." he bounced his eyebrows. And of course he was excited and horny like a teenager.
"Come on, get serious. You just came." I said and clapped him gently on the chest.
He kissed me and returned sadly to the group of pilots. We hadn't seen each other for a little over two weeks and we were longing for each other. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Sarah refusing to let go of Tom's embrace. He laughed as he tried to peel it off his neck like sticky tape. I was smiling because they were a lovely couple. After that she let him go and joined me.
"The party is in a couple of hours. Do you have a dress? A special one?" Sarah questioned me, holding my hand as we walked towards her car.
"I have the blue dress he proposed to me in. It's the only formal dress I have."
"I have an extra one for you. You'll love it. I'll be over in an hour and a half and we'll get ready for our boys together."
The plan was there. She drove me home and I prepared a light salad with cucumbers. I also put some kind of champagne to cool. Soon, a car stopped in front of the house and Sarah got out of the car, dragging a small suitcase and bags of dresses. I helped her in.
"You have to see it. I want to see how it fits you." she said excitedly.
She took out a beautiful powder pink silk dress from the bag. It had a bow-shaped corset and a wide bottom. It was really beautiful and reminded me of the irresistibly famous dress of the movie diva Marilyn Monroe."God! Really? Can I wear it tonight?" I asked in shock.
"Yes. Dress her up." she was rushing me.
I went upstairs to dress her. Sarah was right, it fit me perfectly. When I got down in front of Sarah, she had her hands over her lips."It fits you better than anyone. Better than me. You know what? Keep it. I'm sure it'll be ripped tonight." she said and gave me a wiggly wink.
I was embarrassed and blushed. She helped me tie my hair into a high ponytail and apply light make-up. I put on the perfume that Ron bought me and we were ready. Sarah wore a flowing white knee-length dress. We got into the car and drove to a bar and waited for our boys. They were dressed in white formal Navy suits. Each approached his girlfriend. Tom pulled Sarah towards him with a look as if he was going to devour her. He apologized for the delay and that he would make up for all the time they were not together. Sarah giggled as he bombarded her with kisses. They were adorable.
