Trial by fire

Chapter 1

Kya was walking back and forth in her bedroom. She had just moved to LA, California. Kya came from a huge family, and every single family member had some sort of magical power. Kya's power was that she could creat fire from her bare hands. But, she could only do that if she had enough magical energy in her body.
Kya talks to herself in her room...
"School's tomorrow... What if people find out that I have powers? What if I burn down the school?" Kya slept through the night, but had terrible nightmares of what might happen in school tomorrow..

The next day,

Kya walks through the big doors of LA Minnows High School. She looks down at her schedule, seeing that she has Math first.
After walking in to the classroom, the teacher, Mrs. Mayor, introduces her to the class. Most of the girls were too busy chatting to notice, but most of the boys just laughed or snorted at her. She quickly took a seat in the back corner of the classroom, without saying a word.
At lunch time, Kya went into the bathroom to take a look at herself. In the mirror, she saw a teenage girl with black hair with natural reddish-brown highlights, wearing a black tank top with short gray shorts. Her eyes were a dark gray, with little specks of orange that you could see in the light. She wasn't wearing any makeup, but she didn't need any.
She walked out, and 3 boys were standing by the lockers in front of her, chatting. She recognized 2 of them- Andrew and Max. The other one had long blond hair, although she didn't know his name.
They saw her come out, and immediately stopped talking. Max, the tall and muscular one with jet black hair, started slowly walking over to her. "Well well well... What do we have here? Oh yeah, it's that ugly little new girl, right? What's your name hun? Huh?" Says Max.
