"Hi. Can I please have a chocolate cupcake?" A little girl asked me from across the counter.

"Of course you can!" I replied echoing her tone. "This one?" I pointed to the large chocolate cupcake in the case she seemed to be staring at. The little girl smiled big while nodding. I took out the treat and placed it on the counter. "That'll be £3.50."

The little girl skipped all the way to a table where an older girl was sitting. I saw them have a small conversation, and then they both walked over.

"£3.50?" The older girl asked. I nodded. She stared at me funny while handing me the money. "I'm sorry for staring, but you look familiar. Do we know each other?" She asked me.

I was thinking back to where I could know her from. I couldn't quite recall. She did seem like someone I knew, though. "I'm not sure." I said still thinking.

We both stared at each other with observing faces. The little girl, I'm assuming was her sister, ran back to the table and started eating the cupcake messily. I started to become uncomfortable having this girl stare at me. I started to look down and fiddle with my fingers, avoiding eye-contact. I felt her eyes move towards my hands.

"Anna?" She quietly asked.

"Yes?" I said looking up confused. She did know me.

"Oh my God. It's Juliann. We went to the same university before that thing happened."

I knew exactly who she was. "Oh! Wow! It's been so long! How are you?" I asked pulling her into a hug from across the counter.

"I'm great! I'm still in school. I see you're still baking." She said looking around the bakery.

"Yes! I can't give it up. It's my favorite thing to do. You know that." I said smiling and cleaning the counter up a bit.

"Yeah. Wow. I haven't seen you in two years!"

"I know. I can't believe it! I'm sorry I haven't called or anything. My parents were upset after I got kicked out." I said feeling a bit upset at the past.

"Anna, I never meant for that to happen. You shouldn't have taken the blame." Juliann said.

"I know. I knew being at university meant more to you, though. So, it's no big deal." I said remembering the past.

Juliann and I were best friends. We would always do everything together. One day, we crept in the university restaurant. Juliann said she was going to make me dinner in celebration of me passing a final. She was baking mac 'n cheese. She left the oven to come out and talk to me. We were talking for a little bit until I smelt smoke. I ran into the kitchen and there was a fire. I told Juliann to go get help while I tried to put out the flames. The fire was taking over the entire kitchen. I had to get out of there. By the time help arrived, the whole building was in flames. We were questioned by the head of our school. I remembered Juliann was studying to become a doctor while I was going to be a baker. I thought she needed to stay more than I did, so I took the blame and got expelled.

"Oh. Thank you for choosing for me to stay like that over yourself." Juliann expressed her gratitude.

"No problem. We were best friends." I said. I noticed her t-shirt. 'One Direction' was printed across the top. "So, you like One Direction?" I asked pointing at her shirt.
