Chapter 1

Lets starts from the top shall we? My name is Luna, just Luna for now, and for 4 years I have been the one and only spiderwoman. When i was 14, a radioactive spider from my uncle Bens lab bit me and sent me on this journey. With his help Ive found that I can shoot webs, stick to surfaces, turn invisible on command, and recover quickly from injuries. He blames himself for what happened to me but I never have. Him and one other man are the only ones to know my true identity under the mask. His name is Ash Lynx, a local leader of a gang out of Manhattan. He and I have been close since I helped him out of sticky situation with Dino Golzine (he wont ever admit it though). The two of us have been working hand in hand with law enforcement to bring down Golzine but nothing has worked yet, I just bide my time by taking down his men when the opportunities arise. Whenever I meet with Ash I'm in my suit, don't need his men or other gang members recognizing me on the street(that would defeat the whole secret identity lifestyle). Only Ash and my uncle can see my face, cant risk any more people being connected to me...

Today was the start of summer in New York, the hot sticky heat causing me to sweat in little my suit. Sitting around the top of Ash's hideout proved to be a bad spot to be in. The sun was beating down on the city, no clouds in sight to give a break from the heat. Watching from above was always my preferred spot anyway though, civilians typically don't look up from their phones so easier to hide in plain sight. From my spot the local corner store seemed to have nonstop customers today, looking for somewhere to cool off. The streets filled with locals using anything they could to fan themselves, a few skateboarders buzzing past to catch a makeshift breeze. Still keeping an eye on the hideout entrance, i noticed not many had come in or out in awhile. I pulled my phone out from my backpack. The time flashed on the screen 4:15. He was late.... Ash is rarely late, something must be up. I swipe up to unlock my phone and dial Shorters number. After 2 rings he picks up.

"And to what do i owe the pleasure spidey?" His teasing tone oozed through the phone, it didn't bother me much.
"Is Ash with you?"
"He is at the bar right now, meeting some journalists from japan."
"Japan? The fuck do they want with Ash?"
"They wanna do a story on New York's young gangs. You jealous?"
"Jealous?" Now he was getting on her nerves.
"Yeah, they wanna talk to ordinary Ash and not the one and only spiderwoman after all."
She giggles at the thought of being jealous over that sort of thing.
"You still don't get me do you Shorter?" And with that I hang up on him, personally I didn't wanna deal with him anymore. I got what I needed anyway. Swinging between the buildings I reach the bar just as gunshots go off. Shit somethings wrong. Activating my invisibility, I swing down to the side entrance of the building. Cautiously opening the employee door, I find Skipper and a boy id never seen crouched behind the counter. I tap skippers shoulder and make my hand visible for him to relax and see that its just me. "Spiderwoman!!" He wraps his small arms around my waist and I motion for him to be quiet.
"We aren't in the clear yet little guy, who's this?"
"Eiji Okumura, hes one of the journalists from Japan."
Turning my full attention to him, completely deactivating my invisibility for him to get a better sense of who's in-front of him. My black and purple spidersuit usually got some stares due to it being skin tight but it didn't bother me anymore. It was obvious to see the boy was confused as to what was in front of him. Guess spiderwoman isn't big in Japan?
"Im spiderwoman, the one and only. Arent you a little young to be a journalist?"
"Im 19..."
"Hmm, only a year older than me. Interesting..."
Using my spidey senses to get a feel for what was going on I decided my next move.
"You guys stay here, im gonna help the boys out a little bit." Going back to being invisible, I swing over the counter and trap 3 of Arthurs men to the wall with my webs. I position myself against Ashs back and become visible again.
"I thought you dealt with Arthur and said he was done?!"
"Well apparently he came back!"
"Guess I gotta help your ass out one more time huh?" I love to tease him whenever I get the chance.
Ash's cheeks slightly turn a little pink as he pulls the trigger a few more times. I hit a few guys in the face with my webs to disable them.
"Shut up or ill tell everyone who you really are."
"But then you'll have to share Ash, i didn't think you liked to share."
At the moment I sense something wrong back by the counter. At that moment i see Skipper and Eiji being taken away by one of Arthurs underlings before either of us can get to them. Ash pushes through the commotion quickly, running outside as Shorter pulls up on his bike. Before I can catch up and say anything, Ash takes over the bike and speeds off to follow the two. I turn my attention towards Shorter.
"Where the hell were you?!"
"You know I have my own gang I take care of." I cant see his eyes behind those stupid sunglasses he wears constantly, but I can feel the glare he shoots at me through them.
"You should have been here, Skipper and the journalist were taken!"
"And just what did you do then? Aren't you supposed to be this cities protector?"
I fall silent, knowing he isn't wrong but he isn't right either. I turn my attention to the cops, specifically speaking to Jenkins and Charlie.
"Im going to follow the boys, when I get more information ill contact you." Swinging off quickly in the direction Ash drove off in, I can only hope I can catch up to him in time. I can spot him easily ahead on Shorters bright red bike, thank god that boy liked to be flashy. After trailing him for awhile, we ended up at an abandoned area of the city. I still stayed behind to keep an eye on what was going to go down, easier to rescue than to be rescued. My intuition seemed to be right, Arthur walks out to Ash and is followed by Martin. Though to my surprise i see them bring out Eiji and Skipper, from where im perched they look ok to me. Ash drops his gun and thats when i make my way over. Since im invisible, it gives me the advantage to swing freely inside the building and getting a good feel of the space. Took me a minute but I was able to locate Eiji and Skip in a makeshift cell room, the lock was easy enough to pick as well. Closing the door behind me, i reveal myself and hug Skipper tightly.
"God i was so worried about you little guy! Im so sorry I let you two slip away, are you ok?!"
Skipper relaxes a bit and hugs me back. "We are fine, but I'm worried about Ash... Marvin has had him for awhile now..."
"Don't worry about him, he is a tough cookie." I was doing my best to reassure them both to be honest but I wasn't so sure how much longer Ash can hold up. Good thing the mask hides most of my emotions, I'm not good at hiding my feelings apparently. Ash tends to remind me all the time that anyone could read me like a book without the mask. He says my eyes are what give me away, that they tell him everything he needs to know. My spidey senses go off and i turn invisible again and move myself to the far upper corner of the room. The door suddenly swings open and Ash is thrown inside and my stomach drops. He looks awful, its as if they all took turns beating him to a pulp. I can even see from where I am that a gash has opened on his arm, as if thinking my thoughts, Eiji moves to wrap it up for him. His face doesn't show it though, I can tell he's still putting on a show since Marvin steps in soon after him. God I hated Marvin, he stunk like cigars and sweat!
"How are you feeling Ash?" God i wanna wipe that smug look off his face so bad but i restrain myself as to not alarm his men that im here. Ash keeps his eye on Marvin, making sure he doesn't touch the others.
"What are you going to do?"
"It all depends on you. If youre a good boy, i could put in a good word to Papa." Golzine, ofcourse he is involved in all this..
"I want to talk to you in private." Oh. Oh, Ash is gonna make his move now. I get down for the corner and move myself closer to the door. If im here i might as well well be useful.
"Sure." Marvin moves in closer and shuts the door, though what he doesnt know is I make sure to lock it so non of his guys move in. I choose to not look since i know Ash isnt fond of anyone seeing him put these kinds of moves on people. Within an instant Marvin is down to the ground and knocked out, i make myself known.
"Guess you didnt need my help after all Ash."
He looks up at me and shows a small smile.
"You stalking me now spidey?"
"Just making sure you can handle yourself, now lets get you guys out of here. I dont hear anyone around the door so nows the time to move."
Moving quickly me and the boys make a run for it. Passing by a few men, I quickly immobilize them to the wall with my webs. Though our escape seems short lived as we make it all the way to a dead end.
"Fuck, how are we gonna get over that?! I cant carry everyone over!"
Eiji grabs a rusted pipe off the wall, causing all of us to turn to him.
"Um Eiji, I didn't peg you as a fighter"
"Im not gonna fight, I'm jumping over. I was a pole vaulter back in Japan, this isn't even the highest i could jump."
I glance back at Ash, he seems to be eyeing the guy as if he isn't sure about this. Its seems as though he is interested in this guy, this is new for Ash. I put my hand on his shoulder.
"Ill go with him and get help ok? We'll get the cops over asap since i have your location, just don't let those guys get you ok?"
"Stay with him for me?" I was surprised to hear this from Ash and nodded to assure him.
"I wont let anything happen to him."
We watch as Eiji jumps over the wall, god it was amazing! It was like he was flying and I was jealous for a moment. Without superpowers, he could fucking fly... I quickly snap out of my daze and follow up the wall and over to him. He had a gash in his arm now from jumping over and was bleeding quite a lot. Before hoisting him on my back I yell back at the boys on the other side.
"Stay alive ok?! Im coming back, I promise!" Please... please stay alive...
