{TUESDAY 8:53 PM}Casey watched Hobie place many objects in front of her door, to "keep the ghost out" he said, trying to give her a humourous grin but failed horribly and gave her a grimace.
"Mrs. Harpole was a mutant that could smell fear, she could camouflage and was an extremely slippery villain to catch" he explained in a hurried manner, he was pacing around the room, his chest heaving as he ran his hands through his locs.
The girl didn't know what to do, she didn't know how to calm him down in this situation or even what to say. Hobie looks at her with malice in his eyes.
"Do you know how much it took to catch this bitch the first time? when she was actually from this dimension?" Hobie pulled at his locs and squatted down to the floor, Casey noticed he squatted down a lot in stressful situations.
He looked up at her, his voice pleadful.
"Please tell me that isn't her name and that she just looks exactly like the bitch I killed 3 years ago"
Casey felt her heart stop and fall at the same time, she stumbled back a few steps and looked at Hobie with a whole new perspective.
"You.. killed someone?" she whispered.
Hobie stood up quickly, causing Casey to gasp and trip over a desk chair. The boy practically glided over and caught her with a single arm he wrapped around her torso. She stared at him with wide eyes, her heart racing. How could she be so stupid to trust a random dude she barely knew, within a day she found out not only was he a super hero but a murderer too? like what the fuck is life right now? The dude who made her feel the most safe and seen and cared for literally killed someone BEING A SUPER HERO.
The boy stood her up straight and grabbed her face, forcing her to look deep into his pained eyes.
"Casey... I had no other choice" he whispered to her and rubbed behind her neck to relax her, he noticed her struggling to breath correctly and he really couldn't blame her.
"She had killed my best friend and my mother, there was no other choice" Hobie whispered again and held her closer, Casey was absolutely terrified. This life wasn't for her, she didn't belong here. Not at that fancy school or in this Spider-Man shit. She didnt belong at home either with her pathetic dad or her stressed out mom or her annoying sister, no one had the time to listen to what casey needed or what casey wanted. She never wanted to go to that school, she was fine in her home school.
Casey was perfectly fine with coming home from her home school to her drunk dad and having to deal with his bullshit until her mom got home and immediately fell asleep, she was fine with feeding and looking after her sister. She understood why her mom begged her aunt to get Casey into that fancy school- she just never wanted it.
Casey didn't want any of this, if she was never forced to go to that lame ass school she would be completely oblivious to all this anomaly and spider people and spider verse shit, she would be partially happy.
But that's not the case.
Right now Casey needed to get a grip on reality and plunge through it the best she could, and the first step was working with this oddly attractive murderous superhero.
Hobie saw the girl's mortified expression slowly ease into a hardened and understanding scowl, she nodded at him, letting him know she was ready to be reasonable. Hobie released the breath he didn't know he was holding, to get this approval and understanding from her meant a lot more than he thought it would. She meant so much to him in such little time.
