Madison POV

May 18, 1996
IT WAS a normal Saturday afternoon, I had been waiting for a new neighbors for a long time. My wish was finally answered as I'd just seen a moving truck rolling up the house right in front on mines.
I ran out the door hoping to find a kid my age to play with. Just as I was about walk in the moving van someone stood in front of me. I looked up to see a boy around my age, I beamed with excitement hoping we'd be friends.
The boy wasn't talking very much 'he must be shy' I thought to myself before I walked in the van trying to help who I thought was the boys dad.
"Hi I'm Madison your new neighbor" I said pushing my hand waiting for one of them to shake it. I look up to see the boy looking at me weirdly.
"Alex you can go take her to your mother" he's dad says while smiling warmly at me.
'He seems nice' I thought while I was waiting for Alex to take me to his mother. He looked behind me to his father as he later sighed motioning me to follow him.
He leads me to his mother who was already planting some flowers, she looked like a kind woman. "Hey Mom. this is are neighbor" Alex says coldly while looking at me like an annoying bug.
"Nice to meet you dear" Alex's mom said holding out her. I quickly shook it smiling at it.
'Why is Alex so cold while his parents are so sweet' that's when it hit me. 'He's probably just nervous and likes me' I thought to myself as I smiled at him sweetly. He gives me a look to go home.
But just like that Brant Jackson comes out of his house running towards Alex tackling him to the floor.
"Holy shit wassup Alex" Brant said hugging Alex tightly. Brandt had been friends with Alex since kindergarten before he moved now he's back.
I just left giving Alex a quick to make him feel better knowing that I liked him too. I went in my drive way and into the garage since it was my favorite place to think.

The last day of school, 2000
ME AND Sophia walked down the hall as I waved to Alex who just rolled his eyes at me while talking to Heather. It was the last class of day, I had been talking to Connie when Alex came up to me placing a note on my desk.

I beamed with excitement hoping he would ask me out. The whole class period I was distracted sometimes I would even found myself staring right at him.
"Madison are you listening" Sophia asked as she could see that I had been staring at alex. "That boy has you wrapped around his finger be careful he's so full of himself" she continued.
"We were talking about summer glow ups" Connie added, I was so focused on Alex I had forgotten all about what I'd be doing this summer.
"You guys want to do the summer glow ups together" I asked hoping at least one of them would say yes.
"I can't sorry I have to be at summer camp until the beginning of august but I can still definitely do it when I get back" Connie replied I felt kind of bummed that I didn't get to see her until august but it was whatever.
After a few minutes the bell rang the popular crew threw all there papers in the air or trash, while I was picking up all my stuff. I put some lipgloss on and made sure my breath smelled decent.
I had grabbed all my stuff and headed outside with my friends. There were tons of people around but I just thought it was so they could say their goodbyes. I just seen Alex leaning on a tree laughing. I'm pretty sure he sensed me or something because he motioned me over to come to him.
I walked over feeling anxious but some how excited. Heather looked awfully happy for some how had gotten dumped. As I finally my way to tree, I feel Alex arm around my neck pulling me in. I close my eyes thinking we were going to kiss but after a few seconds I hear everyone laughing.
I open my eyes to see Alex's arm around Heather my smile drops. "You think I could ever like you don't make me laugh" he said laughing with all his friends.
"Stop acting like we're friends I'd never be with you I never would want to be seen with you. I don't like freaks who cut themselves whenever anything doesn't go her way" Alex said before i walked over to him and slapped him.
Sophia and Connie pulled me out of there before anything else happened. As soon as I got homes tears came running down my cheeks, maybe I'd misread some signals. But I wasn't going to let him get away with humiliating me in front of the whole school.
