As soon as I entered our compound, I spotted our front door opened which is unusual because Esther always go to join mom at the shop after school while I cook dinner and do the house chores. Is she still home or did mom not go to the shop today? I wonder approaching the door, or did someone break in? I stopped on my track as the thought cross my mind. Did people break into other people's homes in broad daylight? I wondered. I slowly creeped into the apartment looking left and right, there was no one in the living room so I stepped forward, I slowly headed towards the direction of the rooms, just as I stepped into the hallway someone grab me from behind.

"JESUS, JESUS!" I screamed so loud I'm surprised the building did not collapse. The person behind me bust out laughing. With my hands on my chest I turned to see my brother Ola.

"My belly oo, my belly oo, ahh..., my God I nor fit laugh," he said laughing even harder, tears coming out from his eyes.

"How can you be laughing when you almost gave me an heart attack," I frowned which seems to make he laugh harder.

"Your face it's....so so....fun....funny my dear little sister," he teased pinching my cheek, I slap his hands off glaring at him.

"Oya sorry, sorry na, you know I love you," he fake an apology pulling me in for a hug. "I miss you oo," he added.

"That why you plan to kill me as soon as you came back abi," I start coyly before hugging him back. "besides why are you here? Is it not too early for you to be back from school"? I asked.

"It's strick oo, indefinite one, so no clue when they are calling it off, anyhow sha I just hope it doesn't take long," he shrug.

"Eya, this one will cause delay now, it is well. So have you seen mum"? I asked

"Yeah, I stopped by the shop first before coming home not long ago," he responded as he goes to lie down on the chair.

"Oh okay, I will just changed and come and start on dinner,  you're joining me, plus I have news big one," I told he smiling.

"it's about the scholarship abi, Esther mentioned it, shay you applied"? He ask mirroring my smile.

"Not yet, I want to tell mum first before I'll apply tomorrow, you say know nor be me get myself," I laughed. "I just hope it goes well," I added.

"Don't worry I gat you back, go and change now na, me am already hungry oo," he groan.

I left to get changed and came out to meet him already in the kitchen I joined him and we begin making dinner having small talk about his time at school, classes, hostel, and new Friends. We went on like that for a while as we cooked and did the chores, after we finish Ola had gone ahead to have a small portion of the food while we wait for mom and Esther, of course he shared it with me. We were chilling in the living room and watching cartoons later that evening, well I was mostly doing my homework.

"This one you carry face like shit so, you need help," Ola offered to help with my homework.

"Shebi you must curse person first before you offer them assistant ni," I glared at him.

"Aunty Make I help you or Make I nor help you," he asked again not even bothered.

"yes ee,"  I replied in a small voice eyeing him.

He came and sat beside me on the floor then proceed to help me with my homework, we were just about done when the front door opened interrupting us, Esther stepped in first before mom entered.

"ẹ kúrọ̀lẹ́ ma,"  bother Ola and I greet at the same time. Which she hmmm her respond and went inside.

"Shey you don't know how to greet abi, who is you mate in this house"? Ola directed to Esther as she goes to change the gotv channel.
