I jumped off the bed, and ran straight to the living room and found my dad standing in the middle of the living room holding Esther in his embrace, seeing me his smile widen and motion for me to come to him, I ran into my father's opened arm, he bend down and place a kiss on my head.

"Daddy you did not tell us you were coming home today" Esther state smiling at our dad. It was obvious she was happy.

"Does mummy know you are home"? I asked because my mum is usually the one telling us when daddy was coming home and she prepare food for him by herself and yet she is not here now.

"No my dear, this is a surprise," he said as he moved us to seat the long chair in the living room.

Ola who has stepped out came back with bags in his hands and took them inside to dad's room.

"Daddy, I call mummy and told her there is an emergency at home, she is on her way home now," Ola said coming back into the living room.

"You did not tell her anything about ni," dad asked making sure Ola did not ruin his surprise.

"No sir I didn't, she will be surprise when she sees you, I pray she doesn't Bit my head off for using emergency as a excuse, she must be worried sick now," Ola cringe from the thought.

Not long after mum came home calling ola as she walk into the house only to see dad standing in front of her smiling.

"Okomi, mom stared at dad shocked, before she broke into a smile and hug dad.

Moments like this are always emotional for me seeing parents together like, my family complete is the best feeling. I always try to enjoy the best of it because we don't always have it with dad traveling and all.

Dad went to freshen up while mom prepare dinner, mom always like to prepare food for dad whenever he comes home, because according to her that's the only time that gets to make food for her husband.

We all sat down for down, Ola said grace, and we started eating with dad telling us some story about the states he's been to since the last time he was home, Dinner went on like that for a while.

"Daddy, did you know that lily and Esther participated in a debate in school to get a scholarship" Ola say to dad.

"Ahah, really, why am I just hearing about it"? Dad asked. So nobody could call me and tell me this news"? Dad carried on asking.

"Oko mi, we didn't want to disturb you at least till it becomes a success, which it is yet to be my dear. Mum responded to dad, shooting Ola a shapelook while dad nodded.

"So Lily, Esther how was the debate? Hope you did well? Dad asking.

"I did very well.

"Did my best.

Both Esther and I answered the same time and looked toward each other.

"That all you know how to do, my best, my best, my best nothing else,"mum said curtly.

"Iyanda, don't be hard on the child" dad interjected.
