When she gets to her next class she gets excited cause today is the day they get fitted for their scrubs. They then order them and wear them everyday on Tuesday. She was so excited this is the moment she had been waiting for her entire high school career. A look into what her life could be one day. Haehyo had been texting her but her PCT teacher was giving an actual lesson so she didn't respond.
The lunch bell rang and she went to go meet her friends at their usual spot. She walks up to the table all giddy with a big smile on her face. She sits down and stares at her friends like a weirdo.
"Why you smiling so much" Jess asks getting very uncomfortable with this babadook looking smile.
"Two good things happened today, so we got fitted for our scrubs today and I finally got Haehyo's number!" She practically screamed
They are always loud at lunch laughing about something it's who they are.
"Really?!, omg that's like OMG, look at you pulling" Jess says and playfully nudges her.
"I got good news too he also gave me his number too for our project, he's so sweet, I get why you like him" Katelyn chimes in.
"He also gave me his snap so we can send update photos of our project, you should date him I approve" Katelyn continues.
Amber and A'zuria exchange a 'that was weird asf' look towards each other and just shake it off.
"Only one more thing to make your day a homerun" Jess jokes.
"Ikr would else could possibly happen though" A'zuria thinks.
Little did she know that Haehyo and his friends would be sitting with her today. He was trying to convince his friends it's a good idea, to go sit with A'zuria and her friends. He was trying so hard, when Haehyo wants something he's gonna try and get it no matter what. After a 5 minute talk they make their way over to A'zuria's table and he takes the seat next to her. She didn't notice cause she was too busy chowing down on her SPAM fried rice.
"Hey Haehyo" Katelyn says and waves at him.
"Hey guys, sorry to intrude, we wanted to join you guys for lunch today" Haehyo says hoping to not get casted away.
"No it's okay you can sit here whenever you like" Katelyn says to ease the worried look on his face.
A'zuria froze when she heard who was right by her. She was at a lost for words, it was like everything slowed down She was just trying to enjoy lunch and he comes over there. She's not complaining or anything but still she can't help but think wtf. Is today just her day did she genuinely hit a home-run and life could starting to look up.
Haehyo pokes her and looks at her.
"Hey Zuri, what you eating" Haehyo says to get her attention.
"Oh um it's SPAM fried rice, wanna try some?" She offers.
He nods and she puts some of the rice and his plate. Chase nudges him playfully, hyping him up.
He then tries the fried rice and hums at how good it is.
She watches as he tries it and smiles when he looks at her with a happy grin.
"Y'all just gone straight up flirt in my face bro" Amber says jokingly.
"We're not flirting" they both say at the exact same time and look at each other and laugh.
"They're literally proving your point" Jess says.
They stop laughing and continuing their lunch and they talk about how their day is going so far. A'zuria doesn't mention their little encounter because she wants to tell them later. They talk about their nerves for senior year.
"Last year of childhood" Katelyn says and it triggers her and tears start to well up in her eyes because the realization just dawned on her. She puts her lunch away and puts her head down and tears just run down her face.
Haehyo and his friends get up and explains they have to get to their math class and bids everyone a goodbye and leaves Katelyn his brownie from his lunch to hope she feels better.
"See you later Zuri" Haehyo waves as he walks away.
Him and his friends leave and are out of view.
A'zuria screams a bit and her face is red as hell. Her thoughts are racing, because it feels surreal that he really sat next to her, talked to her and just embraced her presences. She's sighs and the scene keeps replaying in her mind. She comes out of thoughts and checks on Katelyn.
Katelyn raises her head and she's all snotty and tears all over her face.
"Oh no" A'zuria pouts at her sad face and cleans her face with a napkin. Katelyn takes the napkin and cleans her nose and pulls herself together.
"Haehyo left you a feel better brownie" Jess says with a chuckle.
"That's so sweet of him I can't believe I cried in front of him and his friends" Katelyn says about to on the verge of tears again.
"No Kate, don't start crying again, lunch is about to end" Amber says.
The bell rings and they throw away their trash and start their journey to their next class.
"I'm going to head to library see you guys later" She waves to them and makes her way to the library coming to what she experienced yesterday because everyone's schedule is fucked the first week of school. The crowd is smaller than yesterday but still a lot of kids.
The rest of the week progresses and on Friday they had an assembly for the seniors to tell them about how they're seniors now and how proud they are, basically telling them things they already know. They also tell them about some of the senior activities that they could possibly do, basically a bunch of empty promises.
They also announce when homecoming is and when the week begins. Their homecoming week starts in September. They all groaned about how they were wasting their time, someone even said "you could've put this in an email". They were not happy, they knew their school was slow but they didn't know it was this bad. They finally dismiss them and they head back to their classes with only 30 minutes of the day left.
