Harry

"Does anyone know exactly where this sceptre is going to be?" Harry asked.

"My guess will be the hardest part to get to," Percy said, "The Doors of Death."

Everyone fell silent. Harry was 99 percent sure everyone was weighing their chance of survival. After taking the fact that Tartarus is out for them, the Doors of Death, and the 3 most feared villains, they seemed pretty slim. Sure, Harry had survived many near-impossible scenarios before. But could he survive this?

After walking for about an hour, Harry began to get the feeling that something was... off.

"Something's wrong," he said.

"Of course something's wrong," Ron agreed, "We are in the land monsters go to die, on our way to stop a resurrected Voldemort, plus two other villains."

"That's not what I meant," Harry said, "I mean, do you guys have the feeling someone is watching us?"

"Or something," Biana added.

"Yeah," Fitz said, "I know what you mean. It kind of feels like-"

But Harry never got to find out what it felt like, because at that moment Dex shouted out in surprise.

"What is that?" he yelled.

Harry turned, and his jaw dropped. In front of them was a beast that Harry had never seen before. It was long and blue, with scaly skin and a sharp tail. And if that wasn't enough, it had three heads. It gave Harry flashbacks to first year, when they ere trying to stop Snape - though it turned out to be Quirrell - from retrieving the philosophers stone. They had to get past Fluffy, the three headed dog. The difference with this was that Harry had a feeling it wasn't a pet, and that is couldn't be lulled to sleep with music.

"Oh, great," Percy said, "Just what we needed. A hydra."

"Do you know how to defeat it?" Keefe asked.

"Wouldn't you just cut off it's heads?" Ron said.

"No!" Hermione and Annabeth yelled at the same time.

"Why not?"

"Because if you do, two will grow back in it's place!" Annabeth explained.

"And it will get very angry," Hermione added.

The hydra was yet to notice them, but it was only a matter of time. It was stomping up and down in a line, almost like it was pacing. Even hydra's needed exercise.

"So, do we approach it?" Dex asked.

"We have to," Percy replied, "The Doors of Death are that way."

"And how can we pass it without becoming a hydra snack?" Keefe asked.

"That is something we are going to have to make up as we go along," Percy said.

"Okay, just try and sneak past it," Annabeth instructed, "And if it spots you... run."

"On 3," Percy instructed.

Harry prepared himself. He was pretty good at running, considering all the things he had run from before.

"3... 2... 1... Now!"

Harry propelled himself forward, dodging through the legs of the hydra. He was going pretty fast, and was almost certain he could make it. That's when it went wrong.

He tripped, almost falling to the ground. Harry managed to regain his balance, but it cost him precious seconds. Seconds he didn't have time to lose. At that moment, the hydra finally noticed them. It's tailed whipped around, grasping Harry around the waist and lifting him up. All six of the hydra's eyes focused upon him, and all three mouth licked its lips.

"HARRY!" Hermione screamed.

The others stopped in their tracks. The hydra stared down at the others and then back at Harry, contemplating whether or not it should eat him first, or go for his friends first. Finally, it decided that 10 snacks was better than one so, with Harry still in its tail, all 3 heads lunged down at the others, teeth snapping.

Biana dived out of the way without a second to spare. Ron and Keefe jumped seperate ways, temporarily confusing one of the heads. Hermione, Sophie, and Annabeth ran back as a head came lunging at them. Dex and Fitz narrowly avoided being eaten by sliding under the head.

Percy pulled out his sword and swung wildly at the hydra. Harry noticed he was careful not to chop at the head, rather the faces. He soon made contact, slicing right through on of the eyes. That head roared, and the grip on Harry loosened. He dropped to the ground and scrambled to his friends.

"RUN!" someone screamed, though Harry couldn't tell who.

Everyone ran as fast as they could, dodging the gnashing teeth that came at them. The hydra was big, but it was heavy, and that slowed it down. The 10 friends were panting and out of breath, but they kept moving forward, until the hydra was so far behind it was out of sight. Then, and only then, did they allow themselves to stop.

"Do you think it's finished chasing us?" Sophie asked.

"With our luck, probably not. But hopefully it will find another monster to keep it occupied." Percy said.

"Can we take a break?" Ron asked.

"I second that," Harry added.

Annabeth sighed, like it pained her to slow down. To be honest, it probably did. From what Harry had gathered about Annabeth, she was very determined, and like to get things down as well and efficiently as possible.

"Fine," Annabeth said, "But a quick one. Ten minutes, at the most."

Harry gratefully nodded, and sat down on the ground. They had only been here for a day, max, and they were already running out of energy. For the first time since they had arrived, Harry felt scared.

What if they actually didn't make it?

I am so, so sorry for not updating in about 2 weeks. I've been really busy, but I think I will be able to update more regularly, because I have a bit of a break now. I will try to be better about updating, I promise. I hope you are enjoying!
