Annabeth
Annabeth raced towards her cabin, the others right behind her. She flung open the door and went directly to the tall bookshelf next to her bed. Annabeth grabbed 'Power Sources: A Complete Users Guide' off her shelf.
"Page 223," she mumbled, "221, 222 and... 223!"
"What, do you just memorise what is on each page or something?" Keefe asked.
Annabeth shrugged, "In guess I just know."
Ron glanced from Hermione to Annabeth, "Are you, like, the same person or something? Smart, love reading, memorise books... are you sure we haven't landed in an alternate universe?"
"Guys, listen," Annabeth said. She started to read the page, "'The Sceptre of Infinity is a sceptre than guarantees the wielder immortality and enhanced power. When used right, a battle is very difficult to be lost as the sceptre grants the abilities needed to win. However, nobody goes searching for it because it is in the darkest part of the world, guarded by dangerous monsters. Plus, to pass through a shield that surrounds it, cryptic riddles must be solved. Guess wrong, and everyone near the shield will be blown up. Overall, the sceptre is a majorly powerful object that can guarantee somebody survival in a battle, if they don't die retrieving it.'"
"Why do you think it's this one?" Percy asked.
"Because most of the other objects are historical and have been destroyed or lost," she explained.
"So... we have to go on a dangerous quest, get through dangerous protections, find a dangerous object, and defeat the most dangerous villains of all time?" Harry said.
"Pretty much."
"Sounds like an ordinary day to me," Ron said.
Hermione smacks him lightly on the arm, "This isn't a joke. There are 3 extremely dangerous villains out there, and we have to stop them."
Annabeth nodded, "Hermione's right. We stood to stop them. A-all of them."
Her voice cracked on the word 'all'. All meant Luke. Luke Castellan. Her first friend at Camp Half-Blood. She had seen him die once. Could she do it again?
"So, how do we plan on getting there?" Percy asked.
"Don't you have a pegasus or something?" Annabeth reminded him.
"Sure. My pegasus will be able to carry all 10 of us."
"I don't mean all of us on his back, Seaweed Brain," she said, "I mean, he could fly us in something. Like a carriage."
"Ohh," Percy said, "Yeah, that's a better idea."
Sophie tugged on one of her eyelashes.
"What are you doing?" Harry exclaimed.
Her hand dropped to her side, "Sorry, nervous habit."
"You don't think their will be... spiders there, do you?" Ron asked nervously.
Percy raised his eyebrows, "You're scared of spiders, too?"
"Uh, yeah. Why wouldn't you be? They are big, hairy creatures that roam around trying to bite people."
"No they aren't," Hermione replied matter-of-factly, "They are innocent insects that are necessary for the balance of our planet."
"But seriously, how bad would it be if spiders go extinct..."
Biana gasped, "You can't let spiders go extinct!"
"But are they really necessary?" Ron pondered.
"Yes!"
"I, for one, agree with Ron," Annabeth added. Just thinking about spiders made her shiver.
"I know you do," Percy teased.
Annabeth closed the book and slid it back into it's place.
"So, it's decided?" she checked, "We're going to go find this sceptre?"
"I'm game," Percy said.
"Me too," Ron, Harry and Hermione agreed.
They all glanced at the elf crew.
Keefe shrugged, "I mean, what's the worse that could happen."
Annabeth felt sick. If she knew anything, it's that you never say that before going on a deadly quest.
