chapter 30: fawn's readiness

~fawn~

Out of all the things Marius and I have to do to prepare for the wedding, today is probably one of my favourites. I'm finally getting fitted for my wedding suit and I know once I try it on, it's going to feel even more surreal. It's going to make me feel even more excited to marry Marius.

Uncle Winston, Aunt Cecelia, Mary-Anne, and Ellie are the only ones who are going to come with me to give their opinion. I already have the suit picked out, I just need to get it fitted, but I still want them to come, Ellie especially.

Despite Ellie only being a groomswoman for me, she has gone above and beyond helping me and Marius plan for the wedding. She absolutely loves planning parties so once she found out Marius and I were getting married, she began to help us find vendors that would suit our vision. She even helped make the invitations and she did an amazing job.

She told me that apart from loving party planning, she is really happy Marius and I are getting married. She wants our wedding to happen without a hitch.

Even though I really hope there won't be any guests that will cause problems, I know that Ellie would gladly deal with them without hesitation if someone causes a scene, just like how she kicked Quentin out of Aunt Cecelia's seventy-fifth birthday party without questions.

When we get to the tailor, I walk up to the front desk and say, "I'm Fawn. I'm here for my appointment."

The receptionist looks at the computer and clicks on something before she smiles and nods. "Right on time. I'll go let your tailor know that you're here." She walks to the back of the store before returning with a woman following her.

The woman smiles at me and holds out her hand for me to shake. I do as she says, "Hi, Fawn. I'm Serene. You and your family can follow me."

Serene leads us to an area of the shop that's for trying on clothes and fitting them. She heads into the back to find the suit I ordered and brings it out. It's secured in garment bag to prevent, and she hands it to me. I head into the changing room to put on my suit to see if it really does need to get fitted. It's a bit loose on me so it does, but it doesn't look like by much.

When I walk out of the changing room, Serene beckons me to stand on the platform so she can start to get the suit fitted to me.

"I know the suit doesn't fit you yet, but you look absolutely handsome," Aunt Cecelia says. "Oh, I'm so excited for you."

I can see tears staining Aunt Cecelia's eyes, especially since she wipes them away, so I ask, "Are you crying?"

"Of course I'm happy," Aunt Cecelia says. "You've been so happy ever since you met Marius and you've been even happier ever since you got engaged to him."

"He must be an amazing man," Serene says.

"Oh, he is," Aunt Cecelia says. "He's such a sweet and kind man."

"And he's hot too," Mary-Anne signs.

Aunt Cecelia sighs. "Mary-Anne, stop calling your brother's fiance hot. You're going to upset him."

I furrow my eyebrows. "Why would I get upset? It's the truth."

Aunt Cecelia looks confused at my lack of jealousy to my sister calling my fiance hot, but Ellie knows I'm not really the type of person to get jealous thankfully, so she says, "I wouldn't bother with him. Brent once told him that he saw a woman flirting with Marius, and Fawn's reply was 'She's just like me, for real'."
