Yuzuru stared at the King for a few seconds before realizing that the man had just given him his daughter's hand in marriage like it was the most casual thing in the world.

"Just like that?" He stupidly uttered making the older man chuckle.

"Isn't that what you came here for?"

"Yes. I just thought it would be harder to convince you."

"I never once opposed to your relationship. I won't start now."

"And you don't worry about what could happen?"

"You mean the abdication?"

"Yes..."

"Athena wanted to abdicate before he came into her life. This is no news to me, Yuzuru."

"You seem very cool about it."

"I just want her to be happy. And Athena couldn't possibly be happy with the way my wife wants her to live. I may be busy but I'm not blind."

"I don't want her to be forced to do it."

"Me neither, but don't hesitate if you have to go down that path. I prefer to have my daughter happy and away from me than to see her suffer."

"I hope to bring her all the happiness you think I'm capable of."

"You better... If you ever hurt her I will not be this nice."

Yuzuru gave him a nervous smile. He did not doubt that if he ever stepped in the wrong way and made Athena suffer that her dad would have his head.

Not that he blamed him.

He would probably want to do the same to anyone that hurt her.

"Thank you, Sir."

"And good luck. I doubt my wife is going to find this funny."

"I think we can handle her."

"I agree..."

"There is something else..."

"Yes?"

"Do you happen to know any good jewelry shops?"

The king just smiled and nodded.

"I know just the right one."

Meanwhile, in her bedroom, Athena was nervous.

She knew her father liked Yuzuru, but this was a step that had a lot of weight in it.

Saying yes to Yuzu meant accepting that his daughter could eventually have to go away. Probably would have to.

But god, she hoped it would go well.

It wasn't as if it mattered that much since she would marry him either way.
Still, her father's approval was probably the only thing that mattered in this goddamn hole.

Yuzuru took a while to show up again, too much if you were to ask her but when eventually, the soft knock came on her door again and she found him there with a smile, she was reassured.

"How did it go?" She asked almost as soon as the door revealed his face.

"What do you think?"

"From your smile, I'm hoping it's good news."

Yuzuru just hugged her close and kissed her once again. He couldn't believe that this was truly happening. He couldn't believe that he would make this woman his wife.
