Epilogue

You might have thought that the story was over, but this was only the beginning of their shared lives.

Athena managed to get what no one expected, to convince the Royal family to make Yuzuru a Prince.

There was an official vote and everything to see if people agreed with it.

It might have not meant a lot to the normal person, but to them it did.

Of course, they had their lives pretty much settled given how successful he was, but this assured something else, that their possible future children were a part of the royal family, and assured with all the access and privileges that came with the title.

It did mean that other responsibilities would be granted to them, but Athena trusted that she could control what was asked of them in the future.

The ceremony was very formal, in the cathedral where they married, with the most formal attire that they could find.

If Yuzuru looked regal in the suit he wore when they married, that day he didn't look like the ice prince but like a true king.

And just like before, they did everything together.

Athena moved to Canada while he was still training and when the time came for him to leave competitions, they moved together to Japan. He never gave up on his career and she never gave up on her title.

Yuzuru still had quite a few ice shows, ranging from solo extravaganzas to full group performances, and even if they were expected to do a few royal engagements, most of their time together was peaceful and unbothered.

It was still funny to her how they managed to dodge the media so well when they needed it.

Whenever they wanted to go away and have some time without the attention of the public, it was easy to get on any plane and travel somewhere they wouldn't be recognized on the streets.

Being able to walk hand in hand in a street without worrying about a photograph being taken was a privilege that they didn't take for granted.

Yuzuru and Athena enjoyed their childless time fully, traveling every once in a while to remote countries and enjoying their privacy until the last drop.

And no one ever knew much of what they did in their private time, it was something they had always in common and didn't change one bit since the wedding.

Being a prince fitted Yuzuru. He had this regal side to him that came evident whenever they had a gala to attend.

Athena was always proudly by his side, loving all the jealous looks that she got and even enjoying the attention of those that still didn't quite support them despite being more than obvious that they were happier than ever.

The joy of children only came a few years after, when they were both sure it was the right time to try.

It took some time after she stopped taking the pill, so long that they were already planning to get medical help to be able to conceive.

Athena was constantly stressed as they went through all the tests that were usual in cases like theirs. It was her fault, she was certain of it.

Yuzuru on the other hand, just wanted her to relax. Somehow, he had a feeling that whenever the time was right, things would happen.

And he wasn't wrong.

Just when she had booked the first treatment for them to conceive, the clear symptoms of pregnancy started and it didn't take too long to confirm the happy news.

From then on, it was just a huge rollercoaster of emotions.

They tried to hide it for as long as possible, but it just seemed completely impossible when Yuzuru was so freaking obvious.

It started with small gestures of holding her longer and touching her often in public but it slowly evolved. In no time she found him completely shielding her from any possible threats and holding her barely noticeable belly whenever they were close enough.

Athena was sure everyone knew, it was in front of everyone's eyes.

The one thing that was assured was that his fans were talented detectives. They knew how he usually behaved and it didn't take too long for rumours to start.

They confirmed the pregnancy just like they confirmed the engagement, in a ball organized by her mother to celebrate their 2 years of marriage in front of too many guests and cameras for them to count.

The baby, that was later confirmed to be a boy, turned out to be the perfect mix of his parents.

His light brown hair, almost blonde in the sun contrasted highly with his hooded black eyes.

Athena had been right when she joked with her husband that they would make beautiful babies because Kai was the most gorgeous baby in her eyes.

They were lucky because living in Sendai provided that little bubble of safety that no other place did. Yuzuru loved his city and it was easy to tell that everyone else loved him as well.

That's where they raised Kai, and later on, Aleksandra, born 2 years later.

The important thing for Yuzuru and Athena was teaching their kids that even if they had the luck of living in a privileged environment, they had obligations and duties to fulfill.

They didn't raise them as royals but as any other kid in the world. The children had a title but rarely realized the privileges that it brought. More importantly, they were taught to respect, but most importantly, love.

Because love is the foundation for happiness, no matter who you are.
