Yuzuru was keen on fulfilling his promise as he left the palace.
Not that he was that worried about it in the first place.
He had chosen the ring with the help of her father after all and the only thing left to do was pick it up.
The King had offered to get it delivered but Yuzuru felt like he had to do something.
To be fair, the piece of jewelry he ended up choosing cost a small fortune but he had been the one asking for the best options.
It didn't even matter that she could end up abdicating her title, he wanted his princess to have the absolute best choice.
He had money to spend, it was nos secret that he made a small fortune in sponsorships and prize money, but he wasn't usually one to splurge.
This, however, was one of the things that made his usual attitude shift.
The ring he chose was beautiful and intricate, just like the woman it would belong to.
The small blueish diamonds only made it stand out further without being too extravagant.
As soon as he saw it, he had known that it was perfect. A ring fit for a princess.

Just as he had promised, in two hours he was entering the halls of the palace again.
Athena's cousins and Mother were in the same place, as usual, looking at him with disdain.
"Good morning" he greeted them with a small bow but not even bothering to stay for a reaction.
The last thing he needed was to get into a fight with them when he was in a rush. He still heard the comment that left one of the younger girls.
"I bet he will look even worse later. He doesn't know how to dress."
Admiringly, it was a bit frustrating to hear that but he also knew what the miracles of the right stylist could do. He merely wasn't one to care too much about it.
Not before now.
All of those thoughts were gone when he entered Athena's room and saw his beautiful princess in a gorgeous white gown with gold accents that showed her beautiful curves beautifully.
It was mostly backless but adorned with white and gold crystals that made her look regal and gorgeous, just as she always did.
"Wow" was all he muttered when he first saw her, making all of the girls in the room chuckle.
"Is that the lucky man?" The stylist asked.
"Yes, Sonya. This is Yuzuru. Yuzu, my stylist Sonya."
"Hello, it's nice to meet you."
"The pleasure is mine. You were right, your highness, he doesn't need much."
Athena just grinned at that before telling him to get closer.
"Did you get it?"
"Yes, I did."
"You were quick."
"I promised."
"Yes, you did."
She pulled him for a kiss that he couldn't quite refuse.
"I will show you when we're alone. Meanwhile, you look beautiful."
"Thank you, Zu. You should try your clothes."
"Are we matching?"
"Of course " she joked and earned a smile from him.
His outfit was a little more low-key but just as perfect.
Just a few minutes after, Yuzuru was trying out a three-piece black suit with small details embroidered in gold on the buttons and collar to match her dress.
A few adjustments from the stylist later and the clothes just seemed to fit perfectly.
The pants emphasized his strong legs and backside while the coat just showed his incredibly tiny waist.
Yuzu looked like a prince in mere seconds and Athena bit her lip as her eyes laid on him for the first time.
He looked hot as hell.
And all hers.
"Damn, I'm good" Sonya said making them both laugh.
"Looks good?" He asked.
"You look handsome. And hot." She said with a smirk that he proudly took.
"Come here." He asked.
They were both still dressed while the stylist went to retrieve something from her bag to measure some last-minute alterations.
"Yes, Mr. Hanyu?"
"Kiss me."
Athena obeyed in seconds, both of them smiling into the kiss.
"You look like a prince" she said while still appreciating the view in front of her.
"You look like a queen."
"I'm sorry that I have to interrupt, but we don't have that much time..." The stylist asked of them, making them part.
Most of the alterations were on Yuzu's suit since Sonya knew Athena's measures by now, but since they were mostly small things, it was more than achievable to do on time.
"You two look beautiful together. I will finish this and send it back as soon as possible."
"Thank you, Sonya. If you need anything just let me know."
Truth be told, Athena desperately wanted to be alone with him again and rushed the skater to change clothes again to make sure it happened sooner rather than later.
"You're in a hurry..." He said right after the other woman left.
"Show me!"
It did take too much to know what she was referring to.
"Hum... Maybe I should make you wait a little bit. It even matches your dress, I'm brilliant"
"Yuzu!" She complained.
"You're lucky I love you so much" he said before reaching into his pocket and retrieving the small box.
He couldn't just give it to her, obviously.
Yuzuru Hanyu would never do something in an ordinary way.
So he kneeled in front of her.
"Baby, I already said yes."
"Let me do this properly, love."
"Hum..."
As soon as he opened the box her mouth opened in awe. The ring was not only beautiful but different than anything she expected. It was unique, just like they were."
"So? Marry me?"
Athena couldn't help but chuckle. So this was the proper way... She ended up lowering her head to kiss his lips.
