Grayson tossed the helmet into my hands. I absentmindedly caught it, my face blank, "I'm not getting on that thing." I waved a hand at it, still shoving the helmet onto my head, not even bothering to move my hair.
"Stop overthinking everything with that brain of yours and get on." He got onto his motorcycle, turning on the engine and the sudden sound made me jump.
I huffed, unmoving. "My brain is perfectly fine, by the way."
"I'm sure it is, unless you want to have a thirty minute walk." He reasoned, clarity and conviction swam in his eyes.
I took a few steps closer as I talked, "I don't think I'm fully fledged to be doing this."
"I have a license and insurance if you're interested." He said dryly, rolling his eyes. When he glanced back at me expectantly, I finally gave into those stupid green eyes.
I slung a leg over the side and almost toppled over in the process. I clutched the seat as my heart pounded in my chest from the lack of air between our bodies. The parking garage was pretty empty at this point, since it's night and no one was really going anywhere.
He looked over his shoulder and down at my hands before grabbing them to place my arms around his torso. "Get closer so you don't fall off, smart-ass."
I glared at him, my hands fiddling with his jacket. "I'm pretty close alrea-" He pressed on the gas once, jerking me forward until my chest is up against his back. The cool material flat on my helmet, infatuated with his scent.
My face goes up in flames, I could feel the cocky smirk on his face. "Now you are." His voice was muffled by the full-face helmet.
I pinched his stomach, but there wasn't much to pinch. Damn, this man was made out of pure muscle. I still got him though and he swatted my hand away, the split second of our skin touching spread like a wildfire.
The second he started off from the parking garage and into the road, I grasped onto him even tighter and he barely seemed to even mind. The wind ruffled in the ends of my hair that stuck out from the helmet and the cold autumn air stuck to my arms.
Canada was a lot colder than California by far.
My eyes were shut the whole time and I couldn't bear to open them. The motorcycle stopped abruptly, stopping my heart for a beat.
"Oh my God." I muttered, attempting to calm down my rapid heart rate. I opened my eyes just a fraction and realised it was a traffic light turning yellow then red.
I felt the vibrations of his laughter through his back. I couldn't help but smile at the sound, thank goodness for the helmet covering my face. "Gotcha." He said, smiling through his words.
"Hey, Gray?" I said after a few seconds of seeing my life flash before my eyes.
He hummed in response.
"Fuck you." I muttered, but I knew that he knew I didn't mean it at all.
He scoffed, sarcastically. "If you're lucky." I resisted the thought to punch him in the gut. He's lucky he has my life in his hands.

The first thing I spotted were my friends waiting by the porch. Their eyes all lit up the second they saw me, but then crossed with a look I knew too well.
I didn't think I could regret a decision so rapidly in my entire life.
They waved me over and I couldn't help but feel the thrill of belonging for the first time in forever.
