--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Okay, look. I know I said that I wasn't a Swiftie, but my sister basically paid me like, 50 bucks to write this one-shot, and honestly, I'd have to be pretty stupid to not take that kinda deal, am I right? Anyways, as much as writing this one-shot made my blood boil, I hope y'all enjoyed reading this. (Slight AU, btw) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Savannah had been staring at the invitation in her hands for almost twenty-five minutes, the tears slowly streaming down her face with no sign of stopping anytime soon.
" You are cordially invited to the wedding ceremony of:
Wyatt Nathaniel Campbell & Lauren Elise Banks
Saturday, August 25th, 2035 at 2:00pm
Reception to follow at 4:30pm at The Tremont hotel"
She quickly wiped her tears and shoved the invitation into a kitchen drawer once the initial shock had worn off. She just couldn't believe that Wyatt was getting married. She always thought that she would get her happily ever after with him. They'd dated all throughout middle school and the first two-and-a-half years of high school before they called it quits because her parents had split up and her dad moved all the way to New York City and took her with him and she didn't want to put Wyatt through the stress of a long-distance relationship. A decision she was now seriously starting to regret after she read the wedding invite just moments earlier. She always thought they'd find their way back to each other. She always thought they were soulmates, or as she preferred, "seahorses".
I mean, sure, she had "dated" here and there in the last seven years since they broke it off, but none of those relationships were all that meaningful. Some of the guys she'd dated were actually really sweet and gentleman-like and knew how to treat a girl right but no one compared to Wyatt. She'd always hoped he'd wait for her too. Ultimately, she did everything she could to not think about the fact that Wyatt was getting the happily ever after she wasn't. And within a few weeks, she was almost over it. That was, until Zoey, Wyatt's twin sister, called to ask why she wasn't coming back down to Sulphur Springs for the wedding.
"What're you even talking about, Zozo?" she asked, confused, as she sipped on her Starbucks coffee. "Wyatt's wedding, dummy!!! You are his best friend, right? Well, then, you should be here to support him. He really loves this girl, Sav. Besides, you would do the same for him." she said in a no-nonsense tone. Savannah hesitated for a few minutes before she spoke again. "News flash:He was my best friend, Zo. And if I'm being honest, I'm in no mood to see him get married to another girl." she said sullenly.
"Well then, I guess you'll have no choice but to stop the wedding." said Zoey sarcastically. "Wait, that's it. Zoey, you're a genius!!!" exclaimed Savannah giddily. "If I can stop the wedding, then I can tell Wyatt how I really feel." she said breathlessly. "Uh, Savannah, you do realize I was just joking, right?" asked Zoey, her voice laced with obvious concern. "Oh please. If Taylor Swift can write a song about stopping a wedding, then I'm pretty sure I can do it too." said Savannah calmly as she finished her coffee and got in her car.
Zoey just sighed in exasperation. "Oh well. I can't tell you what you can and can't do, Sav. It's your love life, anyways. See you soon." she said nonchalantly before she hung up the phone, leaving Savannah alone with her thoughts. And sure enough, while it had only been said as a joke, she found herself booking a last-minute flight down to Sulphur Springs anyway. She was getting her red-haired, freckly-faced Seahorse back and no one was gonna stop her. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------She didn't tell anyone(except for her mom)that she was home. She wasn't even 100% sure of what the heck she was doing. She really wasn't gonna stop Wyatt's wedding, right?
