--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Okay, so, I think we all collectively know as members of the SOSS fandom that I would've been doing something very, very, very wrong if I didn't drop at least one new one-shot to coincide with the premier of SOSS s3 tonight, am I right? And I just gotta warn you, this one-shot is a real tearjerker so it's not my fault if you guys didn't bring your tissues. Anyways, enjoy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Griffin, honey. Are you ready?" asked Griffin Campbell's mom, Sarah Campbell, as she looked at her 27-year-old son, who sat in one of the easy chairs in the parlor of The Tremont hotel, his face blank and expressionless as he continued to stare off into space. Griffin just shook his head "no" tiredly as he looked around the crowded hotel lobby and everyone in the room with him, including but not limited to his parents, his 24-year-old twin siblings, Wyatt and Zoey, his girlfriend Harper Dunn's mom, Jess, and brother, Topher, and his close friend Savannah Dillon and all of his extended cousins.  "Griffin, I know you don't want to do this, but you have to. There's just no way out of it. Besides, everyone else is already to go. They're just waiting on you." said Zoey worriedly as she looked at her older brother with concern. "Yeah, I know. But if I do, then it just means that this is real. All of it." said Griffin, standing up but never moving from his spot in the floor. "Then, we'll just stick with you the whole time. I promise." said Zoey, flashing him a weak smile as she rubbed his muscular bicep. "Okay, then. Let's do this." said Griffin as he and Zoey left the hotel and climbed in their family's car and made the quick 15-minute drive to the church, where various people looked at the Campbell and Dunn families with sympathy written all over their faces, making Griffin wince. "If these people are trying to either pity me or make me feel bad about myself for what happened, then it's working." thought Griffin as he took his seat in a pew. He didn't want all this attention. What he wanted was to grieve and mourn in peace without a million different people's eyes staring him down. And it really didn't help things when the preacher came to the pulpit to begin the service. "Good afternoon. We are gathered here today to say farewell to Harper Marie Dunn and to Dawson Reece Campbell and to commit them into the arms of God." Griffin squeezed his eyes shut and began to hyperventilate upon hearing the names of the two most important people in his life:His fiance and almost two-year-old son. "I can't, I can't....." whispered Griffin sadly as he leaned his head on Zoey's black-clothed shoulder. "Shh, I'm here. I'm here. And while it might be hard for you, Griffin, you need to say goodbye." said Zoey quietly as she squeezed her brother's hand gently, doing her best to comfort him. Griffin spent a few more minutes hiding his face in Zoey's shoulder but slowly found the strength to look towards the front of the church where he saw the preacher speaking and a large coffin and a much smaller coffin next to each other. The preacher continued to speak about Harper and Dawson, God's love and the Holy Spirit but there was absolutely nothing the preacher or anybody else could say to make Griffin feel better.  Griffin then began to remember the day he was told about the death of his fiance and son and desperately started wishing that this was all just a really bad dream he couldn't wake up  from. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Are you sure we can't just order pizza again?!" asked Griffin, pouting as he held Harper and Dawson close to him. "Griffin, as much as I hate to say it, we're basically all out of food. So Dawson and I are gonna do a little bit of grocery shopping and then we'll be back before you know it." said Harper assuredly as she grabbed her car keys and put on her coat. "You're no fun sometimes, you know that?" asked Griffin, still pouting when he felt Harper pull him close for a gentle kiss. "Yeah, I know. But you love me anyway." said Harper, grinning cheekily as they continued to kiss before Griffin felt a small tap on his ankle and looked down to see Dawson standing on his feet with his coat on, smiling brightly at his daddy. "I ready to go, Mama." said Dawson happily, looking up at his parents expectantly. Dawson was the perfect carbon copy of Griffin as a baby, even down to the pudgy cheeks and huge eyes that shifted from dark green to light blue from time to time. "Hey, you can't go yet. You haven't given Daddy any kisses!!!!" said Griffin playfully as he knelt down and started to tickle his son and blow little raspberries on his stomach, causing the little infant to laugh like crazy until his eyes started to get droopy and then Griffin stopped tickling Dawson and gave him to Harper to hold. "There you go. Now he won't cause a scene in the store for you." said Griffin, smiling contently at his family and waving goodbye to them from the window as they drove off for the store. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
