It was a Wednesday afternoon. Griffin Campbell was standing outside of the main entrance to Sulphur Springs High School with a phone in his left hand and his light gray backpack in the other. He hears a familiar ringtone and grins as he opens up his messages.

True to her words, Harper Dunn was out of the building in five minutes. She was dressed in her volleyball uniform with her black leather backpack slung on her back with a standard-issue Wilson volleyball and her phone in her hands. The smile on her face widens as she spots him which makes his heart flutter. He's a sap, sue him.

"Hey, you," Harper says as she approaches him.

"Hey, yourself," Griffin greets back, giving his girlfriend a quick kiss on the lips before grabbing her backpack.

She makes a sound of protest, "Griffin, how many times have I told you, you don't have to do that? I can carry my own stuff!"

"And as I also keep telling you every time that I'm doing this because I want to. I think it is my boyfriend-ly duty to carry your books and backpacks." The grin on his face widens when he sees her blush at the word 'boyfriend'. "Besides, what kind of boyfriend would I be if I made you carry your very heavy bag, when I'm basically carrying nothing, when you just finished a three-hour volleyball practice in our school's sweltering hot gym?"

She beams and hums teasingly. "Well, I am kind of sore."

"Exactly why you need to let me carry your bag for you," Griffin retorted.

"Fiiine," The junior finally says, rolling her eyes fondly in his direction. Then her reaction turns into a genuine one as she gives him a smile, a grateful expression on her face, "Thank you."

Griffin couldn't help but smile back at his girlfriend then takes a hold of her hand, giving it a squeeze.

They hold each other's hands as they walk to the parking lot in comfortable silence for a moment before Griffin breaks it with by saying, "So, I was thinking...-"

Harper cuts him off, "Oof, that's never a good sign."

She giggles as he yelps out, "Harper!" and continues to do so as she sees him follow up with a dramatic pout on his face. He feels her face move closer to him as she gives him featherlight kisses on the cheek.

Griffin could see her simpers as she pulled away, "I'm sorry. Please continue."

"Thank you." He exaggeratedly said. The dirty-haired boy was about to open his mouth to continue his earlier thought but decided to give her a quick peck on her cheek in return first which causes her to laugh again. His favorite thing to do in the world is to make Harper laugh. If it's possible to bottle up a sound to store up in his mind so he could listen to it over and over again every and any time that he wants, it would be her laughter.
