"Shut up, Sirius." James muttered, his cheeks turning red. Sirius grinned at him. "I don't think I will, Prongs. You see, the way you looked at Evans..."

"STOP IT PADFOOT!" James yelled. "No! I am never going to let this go!"

"Are we talking about James's pupils expanding to the size of Asia?" A voice called behind the two arguing boys. Another boy with a tired look in his eyes approached James and Sirius. He was grinning.

"Precisely, Moony." Sirius replied, smirking. James huffed. "Honestly, I can't believe how much you two are overreacting! All I did was ask her to help me up...and then she took my hand...and...and..."

A dreamy look clouded James's eyes. Sirius and Moony (whose real name was Remus) busted out laughing. "Oh, shut up!" James snapped again. That only made Sirius and Remus laugh harder.

A girl with red hair walked past the boys, her chin held high. She avoided eye contact with any of them. Sirius whistled quietly. James slapped his arm.

The girl glanced over at them, but looked away just as quickly. "Look at those eyes..." Sirius purred. Remus chuckled. "Look at that red hair...so shiny, James!"

"God, Sirius!" James yelled, rounding on Sirius and getting in his face, "give it a rest already!"

Sirius opened his mouth to reply, but Remus laid a hand on his shoulder to stop him. James looked away. "See you in the common room." He muttered, walking away.

"You really shouldn't tease him so much." Remus said. Sirius glared at him. "I know, I did it too, mind." Remus continued, ignoring Sirius. "But I didn't push him."

"Whatever, Moony. If he didn't want to be teased, he shouldn't have given me the opportunity." Sirius retorted. Remus shrugged. "He can't help it, Sirius. Love is love."

Sirius snorted. "What's the point of chasing after girls anyway? Why not just let the girls come to you? They're thick enough to do it."

Remus shook his head. "Just because they come after you doesn't mean they come after everyone." He paused for a moment. "And girls aren't thick."

James hadn't spoken to Sirius since that morning. Sirius didn't mind...it was only his best mate not saying a word to him whatsoever. No big deal.

"Missing somebody?" Remus asked, poking Sirius's shoulder. Sirius shrugged him off. "Shut up, Moony. James will come back. He's only trying to hold a grudge, the git."

"Whatever you say Mr. Padfoot. But let it be stated that Mr. Moony does not agree with you."

Sirius watched Remus walk away. He sighed and got out of the armchair, heading for the dormitory.

Unfortunately, Sirius was interrupted by two girls. One with red hair, and one with brown hair. "Hello Evans," he said to the redhead. He paused and eyed the girl next to her. "Who's your friend?"

"Shut up and let me talk, Sirius." Evans snapped, her green eyes glittering angrily. Sirius held up his hands. "Alright, Lily. I'll listen to what you have to say, but make it quick."

Lily huffed. The girl next to her looked uncertain. "I want you and your group of daft monkeys to leave Sev alone." Lily yelled.

Sirius smirked. "Have a little something for old Snivellus, do you?" Lily opened her mouth to reply, but Sirius cut her off. "Besides, Evans, you should be taking this to James, not me. He's the one that would actually listen."

Lily opened her mouth again, this time more furiously, but Sirius was already walking around them. "Sirius!" Lily hissed, walking after him. The girl next to her followed. "Listen, Evans," Sirius turned and walked backwards to talk to Lily. He spread out his arms. "I can't help you here. But hey, good luck with James."

He spun back around and worked his way up the stairs. "And you!" He called over his shoulder, pointing at the brunette. "What's your name?"

The girl paused, as if she was contemplating whether or not she should say something. "Anna Lee." She finally said.

"Well Lee," Sirius began, "good luck with Lily and Snivellus. I'm sure they'll make a cute couple."

Not waiting to see their reaction, Sirius walked into his dormitory, though he could have sworn he heard Anna say: "What a git."

"Sirius I am going to shove my foot up your-!"

James's voice woke Sirius. He lifted his head off of his pillow and glared at James, who was red in the face. "Oh, are we speaking again?" Sirius asked.

James glared right back. "Why would you tell Evans to come looking for me when she wanted to talk about that-that-that slimeball!?" He snapped.

Sirius shrugged. "I figured you would listen to her. Merlin knows I wouldn't. Besides, why would that upset you so much?"

James grit his teeth and spoke through them. "Because I want to take the slimeball and squeeze him so hard that every last drop of grease would come out of his hair." He replied stiffly.

"So do I. That doesn't express your point."

"PADFOOT!" James screamed. He punched one of the poles on his four poster bed. "He loves her, and she loves him back!"

Sirius stared at James for a moment, trying to decide how to handle the situation. "I don't think that's true, Mr. Prongs." He said cheerily. James shot him a venomous look. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well, Mr. Prongs, Mr. Padfoot thinks that Snivellus and Evans are only friends, and that Mr. Prongs should stop worrying about their relationship, not that they have a serious one."

James stared at Sirius for a moment before sitting heavily on his bed. "I'm jealous, Padfoot. What am I going to do if they..." He paused and swallowed.

Sirius shrugged. "We just have to wait and see what happens, Prongs. I'm sure it won't get too far. Loving that git is hard, after all, so I'm sure it won't last long."

"It's been five years, Padfoot."
"And we've still got time, Prongs."
