"There's a full moon tonight." James said the next morning, stretching. "Yeah..." Remus muttered, scratching the back of his head nervously.
"Don't worry, Moony, we'll be right behind you like we always are." Sirius assured Remus, patting him on the back.
A small boy with watery rat-like eyes approached the group of boys. Peter Pettigrew, still shy after five years. "Hey, Wormtail, you ready for tonight?" Sirius called.
Peter grinned and nodded. Unlike Remus; Sirius, James, and Peter looked forward to the full moon, where they had "permission" to help out their little friend.
"It's your furry little problem." Sirius said, ruffling Remus's hair. For the first time, a smile flickered across his face. "I suppose it is."

"Got the invisibility cloak ready, James?" Sirius asked, glancing out the window at the steadily rising moon. "Always in my pocket, Padfoot. Just in case I need to make a quick getaway."
"Ready, Moony?" Sirius turned and grinned at his friend. Remus nodded, the fear easily discernible in his eyes. Giving him one last pat on the back, Sirius ducked under the invisibility cloak, followed closely by James and Peter.
Remus sighed and slid under the cloak as well.
"I think we might be getting a little too big for this, Prongs." Sirius muttered, hunching over and doing his best to keep his feet covered.
James shrugged. "When you come up with a better idea, please, feel free to let me know." He said.
The four boys trekked down to the doors carefully. Remus twitched a little. "Alright there, Moony?" Sirius whispered. Remus nodded.
As soon as the Marauders got outside, Sirius changed into his dog form. He ran around in a couple of circles, enjoying the cool air, before stopping and sitting down.
He barked softly and wagged his tail, excited to get moving after a long day of sleeping through...ahem...uh... listening and learning though his classes.
James and Peter were already in their animal forms. Peter scurried around excitedly, while James ducked his head and clopped his hooves, ready to get moving as well.
"Let's go," Sirius barked, even though he knew very well that no one could understand him. Nonetheless, his bark had a certain tone to it that allowed everyone to translate. Sirius watched Remus carefully. He was frowning and looked rather sick. James trotted off toward the Whomping Willow, followed closely by Peter.
Remus glanced sideways at Sirius, as if he was asking whether or not he should go. Sirius barked happily and wagged his tail. Remus, taking that as a yes, followed James and Peter, walking with his shoulders hunched.
Sirius followed Remus and watched him closely. He walked like his feet were made of stone, each step heavy and looking harder than the last.
Finally they reached the Whomping Willow. James stopped and allowed Peter to scurry ahead. He darted under the tree and pressed his paw against the little knot at the base of the trunk.
James, Sirius, and Remus followed Peter down the tunnel. James turned back into his human form, since a stag wouldn't be able to fit in the narrow space.
The Marauders entered the Shrieking Shack. Sirius looked out the window. The moon was at its highest point.
Just in time. He thought to himself, holding his head up proudly.
James, back in stag form, clopped over to him, dipping his head so his antlers didn't hit the ceiling. He huffed.
Sirius wasn't completely sure what he was trying to say. But he had a good idea. Tuning around, Sirius heard a dreadful moan.
Remus was turning into a wolf. This was the part that Sirius, James, and Peter all hated. Of course, Remus didn't like it either. It was worse for him. But no one likes watching their friends in pain.
Within a matter of time, Remus was in his wolf form. Sirius, James, and Peter did what they usually did. They comforted him by being there. Whenever Remus clawed or bit himself, Sirius would dart in and bark at him. He wasn't sure what Remus really thought of that, but he assumed it helped.
The night went by as quickly as usual. Time flies when you're having fun, if they could call this fun.
Once Remus was back in his human form, the boys turned back into their's as well. They went under the invisibility cloak.
Sneaking back inside was easy. Sneaking back into the Gryffindor common room was a different story.
Well, maybe it was more considered getting back into their dormitory. Despite the fact that it was early, people would be awake. People including Lily Evans. They would notice a door randomly opening and closing, and Lily, who was quite the observer, would definitely notice.
"Don't you dare say anything, Prongs." Sirius warned in a low voice. James pouted. "Why would I? I'm not that desperate!"
Sirius snorted. "Right. Not desperate. Aren't you cute."
James opened his mouth for a sharp retort, but Remus interrupted him, his voice tired. "Don't argue." He said briskly. Blood still dripped from a couple of his wounds.
Peter had been quiet the whole time. "Alright there, Wormtail?" James asked. Peter looked at him and grinned sheepishly. "Yeah, I'm okay."
The Marauders snuck into the common room and walked up the stairs as quietly as possible. Sirius noticed James shoot a longing look at Lily, who was with her friend Anna again.
"See the girl with the brown hair?" Sirius whispered once they had gotten to the top of the staircase. James nodded. "She called me a git."
James snorted. "Lily calls me a git all the time. Every once in a while it'll advance to an arse."
Sirius grinned. "Yeah, but you deserve it."
"You two really need to stop talking." Remus snapped, pulling the invisibility cloak off the four of them and beginning to open the door.
"Remus?" A voice floated over to them. Remus bit his lip and turned to walk back downstairs. Sirius, James, and Peter followed him.
"Remus, you took horrible!" Lily said, approaching the Marauders. Anna was behind her, looking just as concerned.
"You're going to the hospital wing." Lily ordered, grabbing his arm and dragging him along. Remus shot his friends a nervous look over his shoulder. "We'll bring you a butter beer!" Sirius called.
"A butter beer? How are you going to get one of those?" Anna asked innocently. Sirius shrugged and grinned wickedly. "Dunno, Lee. I'll just say that we have our ways."

Ten minutes later, Sirius, James, and Peter sat with Remus in the hospital wing. "A toast," Sirius began, holding his butter beer high, "to Remus. Our friend with his own furry little problem."
