Anuj's Aaransh

Anuj was horror-struck and terrified as he saw Anu collapsing. He caught her before she hit the floor. He was in a trance looking at the frail and fragile form of Anupama. The love of his life was unconscious in his arms. Samar was the first one to reach, followed by Vikram, Devika, Samaira, Nandini, and Kinjal. He went pale and numb as soon as he saw her. Devika brought Anuj out of his daze. He started patting Anupama's face in order to bring her to consciousness. Samar staggered on his feet only to be held by Vikram. He was in disbelief and started violently shaking his head and said, looking at Anupama's state, "This can't be happening!!" Nandini squeezed his hand gently. The ghastly exclamation left everyone shocked and worried. Nandini's comforting gesture calmed him down to some extent. He decided to take the bull by his horns. He immediately turned to Vikram and Anuj and said, "Buddy and Partner, Please take Mummy to the room." They were puzzled at his behavior. "Samar," spoke Vanraj. "I know what I am doing," came the monotonous reply. Nonetheless, Anuj lifted Anupama and rushed to his room. Anuj placed her on the bed. The art of patience and calmness even in the putrescent circumstances was mastered by Anuj, and thus he looked at Samar and inquired, "Do you know what has happened, Samar?"

Samar answered while having his eyes on his mother's petite figure, "I know, and so I'll be back in a moment." This time it was GK who intervened and asked, "Are you sure that we should not call a doctor?" Baapuji backed this. Samar nodded and looked at Nandini. He said, "Please remove the necklace and the earrings." He breathed heavily and said, "...Her face has gone red...." That's when everyone took a look at Anupama's face. All of them gasped. Samar walked out. Devika gently removed the necklace, whereas Vikram removed the earrings. Nandini sat down on the bed and started removing the bangles, and whilst doing that, she turned to Samaira. She requested, in a frail voice, "Please go behind Samar. He is an emotional wreck right now, and he won't be able to find the thing he is looking for."

Samar came into the hall and picked up Anupama's purse. He rummaged through it. He got frustrated as he could not find the bottle. He ended up emptying the purse on the sofa. He kicked the sofa in agitation. Samaira, who had followed him, asked him in a gentle voice, "What are you finding?" Samar said in a weary voice, "There is ... this white bottle of medicines..." He looked at the mess and found it. She forwarded him the bottle. He was relieved and hastily opened it only to find it empty. He muttered colorful curses under his breath. He grabbed the car keys lying on the floor and rushed to the parking. Samaira ran behind him. Samar was a nervous wreck as he hunted through the glove box. Samaira too searched in the small box that was right behind the hand brake but in vain. She switched on the lights and gestured for Samar to wait as she saw the strip of the same medicine fall on the rug. Both of them hurried upstairs. It was a race against time.

The scenario in the room was different; with each passing second the panic was rising within everyone, or they were clueless. Nandini had now started rubbing Anupama's feet. Kinjal too followed her. Though Nandini was fretting with fear, she maintained her composure. She looked at Devika, Anuj, and Vikram and heaved a sigh. She said, "Masi, Please get me a blanket... Partner, please get something to drink... Something light...like an ORS... Buddy, please get me a first aid box." The trio went ahead and complied with her. GK followed them and, along with Sheela, prepared an ORS as well as juice. Anuj and Devika were the first to return. Nandini got up and lowered the AC temperature, whereas Devika covered Anupama with a blanket. Anuj started applying the ointment to Anupama, and he started with her wrists and hands that were red. Samar entered the room, almost injuring his leg, and sat down beside Anupama. He gently tried to wake her up. He nudged her, mindful of her rashes. Mummy...Mummy...Wake up." Anupama woke up groggily. Samar made her drink the ORS as he took the glass from Vikram. A little later, Samar forwarded her medicines and gestured for her to take them. He said, "You'll feel better in a while." Anupama gulped down the medicines, and he made her drink water. He then gave her a small piece of chocolate so that the bitter taste could subside.
