Author's Note: Howdy everyone! Sorry this is so late. Between work and college, I wasn't able to write it when I normally would have. I hope getting both this chapter and the chapter you would've normally gotten this week will make up for it. As always, special thanks to Frostpire for editing for me!

Other than being wet and having to change into a dry adventuring outfit, Tails would say today was a success. Although having found one out of seven Time Stones in her week-long trip here on Little Planet isn't THAT good. Though if push comes to shove, she could always just take the Time Stones back home to try and study them together. She did hope that studying them wouldn't be as hard as trying to study the Chaos Emeralds.

The Chaos Emeralds were always a bit difficult to study, since their power seemed pretty much limitless! Sure, they were pretty much only ever used for Sonic to go super to easily take down whatever scheme Robotnik had in the works that month, but with the studies she WAS able to get done she discovered that the Chaos Emeralds could do much more.

With the Time Stones, what they could do was pretty straightforward: take you forwards and backwards in time. It's in the name, after all, and on top of that, there were also a bunch of future and past signs scattered about the worlds where if you went fast enough you could go to their respective time periods. What she wants to know is how. Sure, you could go with the usual "just cuz" like Sonic always does, due to the gemstones seeming to have magical-like power and even discovering on the Starfall Islands that aliens related to Chaos are the ones who brought over the Chaos Emeralds, technically making it alien power! But she was a genius, and if anyone could find a scientific reason for something, it was her.

She knew she could do it. All she had to do was find the remaining six Time Stones, and she'd be set to study. First though, it was getting late. She wasn't really a camper or someone to sleep in a tree or something like Sonic was. She liked the comfort of her bed. So to set up, she brought a bunch of helper bots with a few materials to help her out. Before she set off for her first Time Stone hunt, she had managed to have her helper bots build a kind of small cabin-like structure for her to sleep in. It wasn't too big, but it had a bed, a small kitchen for cooking food, and a mini-lab to try and study as best she could. Or at the VERY least it would give her the data she needs to go back home and study the Time Stones without bringing them with her.

Now that she's thinking about it, she begins to wonder what would happen if the Time Stones were taken off the planet. Hopefully nothing bad, just in case she can't find them all in time for her to study them here. Maybe she should play it more safe than sorry and just call Sonic and let him know she may stay here longer than anticipated. Well, if she needs the time. Surely she will find them in time.

To set up for the next day, she places the Time Stone on a device set up in her mini-lab and presses a few buttons, causing the device to begin scanning the gem. This will at least give her the data she needs to be able to go through and change the settings of her GPS to more easily find the rest, giving her a wider range while also giving her a more accurate and precise location.

While the gem gets scanned, she goes over to the kitchen and makes a simple sandwich, not wanting to really get caught up in cooking quite yet; at least, not until the Time Stone is done being scanned. When she finishes, she then makes a warm cup of tea, something she usually enjoys drinking before bed before drinking some coffee in the morning.

Amy always did warn her that drinking all that caffeine would ruin her sleep and cause trouble, and to some extent she was correct, but Tails didn't really mind. She always drank a lot of coffee to be able to stay up for long periods of time so she could study something cool or work on building something, because it's what makes her happy. Then one day, Amy came into her workshop looking to hang out, seeing a dead tired fox slumped over, burning something and almost catching fire to her whole workshop! Thank goodness Amy was there to save her... aaaaand lecture her for longer than she'd like about the importance of sleep.

While she was annoyed that she was being lectured like a child, for the most part she was super glad that Amy was looking out for her. It made her wonder if the two would ever hang out again, since Amy was on her own little adventure it seems. When Amy also announced that she was going on her own path for a while, it did make Tails kind of sad. Amy always saw Tails as her best friend! She was even the first person Tails came out as trans to, and goodness the amount of dresses Amy threw on her was insane. How does she even fit all those in her closet??

However, even though ultimately she settled on a simple tank top, cargo shorts with some combat boots and her favorite pilot's jacket, which was branded with her logo, she did find the initial experience with Amy fun, and wished they could hang out more often. But she was too busy afterwards trying to either do Tails' clothes shopping, which she admittedly felt flattered by since Amy WAS pretty good at fashion, or trying to hang out with Sonic.

Then the Starfall Islands changed that for the most part. She seemed to still be attracted to the blue blur, but she seemed to also accept that if she were to get with him, he'd likely be a different person than the carefree goober of justice she originally fell for. Tails felt glad for Amy when she did decide to go on her own adventure as well, but it still did make her sad to see her go. Maybe when Amy gets back she can- oh! A familiar ding catches her attention.

Coming back from her thoughts, she realizes that she's already finished her sandwich and tea. She shrugs and cleans up before going over to the device. Incredible! Weirdly enough it seems to have quite a similar energy structure to the Chaos Emeralds, but it's not as powerful, which would explain why she couldn't find the one in the cave without being relatively close to it.

Taking the Time Stone off the device and tossing it on her bed, she turns everything off except her scanner. Sitting on her new temporary bed she begins to mess with the scanner, trying to change its settings. Turning back on the detection for this specific stone, it begins beeping rapidly. She gets up and goes over to the door, exiting for a bit, testing the signal strength.

She makes it a fair ways away before she turns around, ready to go back and sleep, before noticing the sunset from afar. Wow. How long has it been since she's watched the sunset? Sure she's seen it plenty while working in her workshop, usually indicating she should go to bed or maybe get a coffee to continue work. But she's never really sat down and admired the view before.

It gave the place a sort of warm glow. It wasn't too bright, and it wasn't too warm. It was just pretty. She sat down by a nearby tree just watching the sun go down. Especially on a planet she hasn't explored before, it definitely gave her whole surroundings a new light to them. It felt peaceful. She felt peaceful. However, the moment ended when the sun was finally out of view.

The place still had a sense of peace to it, but it felt more like a tired peace than a warm humble peace. Feeling tired herself, she finally got up and headed back to her resting area. Going to it, entering, and getting ready for bed, she failed to realize that something, or rather someone, was watching her.
