(A/N Hehe no prologue.)
[First person POV]

My mum called my name. "Y/N. Dinner."

I put my phone down and headed to the dinner table and looked down at the meal my mum prepared for me this time. Ah, yes. The classic salad. At least there were mashed potatoes.

"Thanks, I guess." I mumbled quietly, picking up the plate and walking back into my bedroom.

I didn't feel loved anymore. Ever since my dad died, I was neglected by my mother. She was just too depressed. And don't I feel happy to be her daughter. It's not like I'm adopted or anything! Sheesh.

I put my phone away on charge and grabbed a Dog Man book. Dog Man was my favourite book series. My dad introduced it to me when I was very little. He taught me how to read and was always so overly-dramatic whenever a dramatic scene appeared. He made me smile every day. Once, during Halloween, he dressed up as Dog Man. He told me that he was my protector, and I believed that nothing could go wrong....

As I flipped through the pages of Dog Man, a reoccurring thought appeared once more: 'I wish I was in the Dog Man Universe.' I always thought of this whenever I read Dog Man. It didn't matter what book I was on, I just wished I was in the story.

I glanced at a picture on my mirror; it was my cat, C/N. She died of old age last year. My dad bought her for me when she was a kitten. I guess you could call me a kitten, too, since I was just that young back then. A kitten for a kitten, my dad had said. She had beautiful E/C and soft, shiny P/C fur. I loved her just as much as my dad....

[Later that night....]

I sat on the floor facing the side of my bed and began to pray. (A/N Lilo pose.)

"I wish I was in the Dog Man Universe. I just can't stand my life here, in the normal world. Please, someone, anyone, answer my prayer..." I prayed, a few tears making their way down my cheeks.

I crawled back into my bed, snuggling up underneath my F/C sheets and toys. It always made me feel safe.

Eventually, I fell asleep. I couldn't hear a single thing. At first, I was in pure calm darkness, but a dream filled up the abyss. I saw my dad standing in front of me with a soft smile. "Hi Y/N."

"Dad!" I gasped, running up to him. I hugged him tightly. Then I opened my eyes, realising it's just a dream.

"This is a dream, right? I'm still stuck in the normal world I hate..." I muttered, backing away from the hug. "And you're just a dream version of my dad."

My dad shook his head. "No, sweetie. It really is me. It's been years, hasn't it? You've grown to be such a beautiful young lady! I've been listening to your prayers every night, and I'm here to make it come true."

"Huh? But that's not possible, Dad! Is it?" I blinked in shock.

"It is possible! Because all you have to do is believe! Now, hold my hand, and you'll live the life I always wanted to give you..." My dad held my hand lightly, and I grabbed on with my other hand, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath.

"I'll still be with you, I promise..." he whispered. And I felt myself slowly drop into nothing....
