Sam was practicing alone on the empty basketball court. It was 15.45, where the basketball practice schedule would start around 16.00. It had been her habit to come late to class but early to practice. Not that she would care about it, anyway. This kind of thing was just really Sam's thing.
Been one month since the first semester started but Sam has not got a friend yet. It was not that no one ever tried to ask for it though, Sam who was just too lazy to accept the offers. No one interests her, except the pretty woman with foreign look, Rebecca. Even though Sam threw her cold shoulder to everyone, never once in her life gave a cold shoulder to her crush. She could just not have the guts to do so.
Unfortunately, it seemed like Sam had not figured out why Becca did not want to be friends with her. Well, she did remember that her first impression was really bad, but she never did it again, she thought. Instead of working on how she should behave, she thought that her hair must be a problem.
Well, no one could blame Becca after all, since Sam's way of making a move to Becca was quite bizarre. Instead of being nice or even cute, Sam showed her most playful side that she did not show to anyone else. She chose to make Becca annoyed or even angry by her actions. Such wrong actions that made Becca become further and further away from Sam's grasp.
In the zone, Sam did not realize that she was being watched by Song, her senior in the university. Song had just arrived at the building minutes ago, about to call Sam but she changed her mind when she saw a very focused look of hers. Instead of calling her out, Song took a seat near the court and watched Sam closely from there.
Again, huh? Song smiled, shaking her head as she saw the ball get into the ring easily. Watching Sam practicing alone became her favorite activity nowadays. Whenever she saw Sam, she only got more and more fascinated by her charm. Sam may not be that one girl who was all smiley and friendly, but Song was so sure that Sam was really gentle and kind behind her cold demeanor. Being a very sensible person, Song somehow could dive into Sam's brown eyes, where at the bottom she found a hint of sorrow.
Song, the princess of the university, was pretty popular among the students, especially the second year students. If you ever watch a Chinese drama that has a Goddess character in it, that might be the best description on how breath-taking Song is. Fair skin, jet black hair, and her violin-like body made whoever saw her fall in love easily.
Not like anybody else who drools over her beauty, Sam made Song finally feel like an ordinary human. Rather than giving her hungry looking eyes, Sam rarely looked into her eyes, to her liking. Yes, you heard it right; Song did not like it if Sam kept her eyes on her, because she could not handle how strong the impact she got from them. Eye to eye with Sam equals being drowned in an impossible dream.

"Here already, Sam!" Tee called her out while coming into the court, stretching out. Becca was tailing behind her, her rosy cheeks could be seen vividly by Sam's eagle eyes. Just seconds later, their eyes met, made Sam unconsciously smile and Becca rolled her eyes, as if she hated to see her lifetime enemy being there in the same moment with her.
"Hi, Farang~" Sam put her sweaty hands to Becca's shoulder, and brought her body closer to her body. "You wanna see me practice, huh?" she said while smiling.
"Ew!" Becca threw Sam's hand away while rubbing the wet part of her hand on her jeans. "Disgusting!" she cried out.
Sam chuckled, "Aw, don't be like that, Honey~ You will miss my smell someday~"she walked closer to Becca.
"Ekhem" Tee cleared her throat, stood on the way. "Let's start the practice, shall we?" She put her hand on Sam's shoulder.
Sam looked over to the hand, she swept it away from her shoulder, and continued her walking. "Far-"
"Let's go," Tee said again, now her hand clutched Sam's shoulder even tighter.
Sam was getting annoyed and turned her body to Tee. "What do you want?" Sam asked, her palm turned into fist.
Tee chuckled, "Stop playing around, she doesn't like it" Tee said, smirking.
Sam snorted, "Really? Saying this to me?" she said it while sweeping Tee's hand roughly.
"Yes! Why? You wa-"
"Guys!" Song stepped in, as she felt that the situation was getting worse. "Tee, please do the stretching over there" she pointed out to another ring side. "Sam.. why don't we grab a drink first? You must be tired" she bargained, hoping that Sam would agree to her offer.
Without saying anything, Sam walked away with the ball in her hand, leaving both Song and Becca in the position.

"You were so great! Here is the drink for you!" Becca smiled and opened the water bottle, and gave it to Tee who was running to the courtside.
"Thank you, Bec" Tee smiled and drank the water, gulped it down in a go.
Their sweet interactions were interrupted by a shadow behind Tee's body. "Aye, Farang! A drink for me too, please!" Sam said it with a big smile on her face.
Becca's smile is gone, replaced by a deadly stare. "I think you have your own hands to take it" she said while helping Tee with the towel. "You sweat a lot! You might need it too, Tee!" she smiled cutely.
Sam's smile gradually turned down, she looked at Becca with her empty stare. Feeling the stare from Sam, Becca turned her head again and threw Sam a bored look. "What?" she said coldly. "You better go away, you're stinky!" pinched her own nose, as if Sam was really smelly.
Sam looked down, sniffed her own body armpits and t-shirt. Smells good, though, Sam sighed loudly. She looked once again to Becca, who was currently talking with Tee, having their own world. Hate to be the witness of their cuteness, Sam sighed loudly. She reached her hand to take her bag from the chair and proceeded to walk away from the scene, defeated. As she turned her body to leave, a voice stopped her from doing so.
"Sam!" Song shouted while running a little, earning everyone's attention. "Here.. for you" she gave Sam a bottle of cold water.
Sam looked down at the bottle, took it while wiping the sweats on her head with another hand. She looked up to Song, who was smiling shyly, eyes wandering anywhere else than her eyes. "Thank you, Phi" she said with her deep voice, and walked away.
"My pleasure.." Song answered in a thin voice that only Tee and Becca could hear.
"That Sam.. How could she be that cold to the princess?" Tee voiced out while shaking her head.
Becca frowned, "Princess?" Becca asked, looking at Song who went away, following Sam closely. "You mean P'Song?" she asked.
"Yeah," Tee answered. "Of all the pretty girls and handsome boys here, P'Nam told me that this is her first time to see P'Song being so clear about liking someone else and that person should be that moron" she explained.
Becca rolled her eyes, "Good then, hope they will become lovers sooner or later" she said boringly.
Tee frowned, "Why?" she asked.
Becca sighed, "So that she won't annoy me again" she said softly, while seeing Sam changing her clothes ignorantly, in front of many people.
Tee chuckled, "Really? I hope so then. I hope this won't end up like any other high school story, where the annoying boy gets the pretty girl at the end of the story" she snorted.
Becca laughed, "Even if there will be doomsday and God only spared her for me, I'd rather marry a monkey than her," she said proudly.
