"How are you, my sweetie?" a familiar voice called Sam on the other line. It's been months since the last time she heard that voice.

"..." Sam stopped halfway, she brought her posture back, away from the car door. Mom..? After she could finally comprehend, rather than joining the girls into the car, Sam closed the door instead and walked away in another direction.

"How are-"

"What do you want?" Sam snapped, she was currently inside the house of someone that she loved so dear.

"Hey, don't be like that," the woman in her early 40s answered. She stood up and tried to take Sam's bag, but Sam's hand stopped her from coming closer.

Sam sighed loudly, eyes were red. "What do you want? she paused and threw the passport she held to the table. "I booked the flight, spent my money, skipped the classes, for what?! You don't look like you were sick!" she yelled, breathing heavily from her sudden outburst.

"This is the only thing we can do to bring you here, Sam," The woman said, smiling sadly.

Sam snorted, "Really?" she laughed heartily. "After all you have done to me, you wanna add those with this?!"

"Don't be like that, Sam. She's still your mother after all" another woman was coming into the room, tears in her eyes. "We miss you a lot, how are you?" she came and hugged Sam, which Sam only stood in silence.

"P'Charlie.." Sam's wall of defense collapsed just after her body touched her older sister's. She has always been someone she looked up to since she was young. It was so heartwarming for Sam to finally be able to meet her favorite sibling after years. Her anger towards her mother was forgotten immediately.

Charlie broke the hug, "You must be hungry after the long flight," she said, rubbing Sam's back. "How about we eat something first?" she offered, which Sam gladly accepted with the excited nods.

"The number you are calling is busy. Please try again later" Song turned off her phone helplessly after getting the same responses each time she tried to dial Sam's number. It has been days since the last time she saw Sam that night. Even though she had tried to come to her boarding room, she did not find her there. She also asked Tee and Becca about Sam's whereabouts, but still, she failed.

"The number you are calling is busy. Please try again lat-"

"Has she picked up the call, Song?" Mike asked Song, who was currently standing on the edge of the court line, looking eager to know the answer.

Song put down the phone, she shook her head slowly, made Mike sighing loudly. "I should've not trusted her this far" he facepalmed himself. "Please inform the team that we are going to change Sam's position with one of the substitutes," he instructed.

Song stood up, "Sir, we still have two more days before the first game.. Why don't we wait for her until tomorrow?" she said, tried her best to make Mike agree.

Mike shook his head, "Without practicing these past days? No. I will not let her in even though she came tonight" he said, finishing his words with seriousness.

"Sir, plea-"

"Why should you still defend her? She doesn't even care about you, you know" Lux voiced out her thoughts, silently watching Song's from benches away.

Song turned her head to Lux, "She is our team, I have to take care of everyone here" she answered.

"Believe me, she would not come" Lux patted Song's shoulder, rubbing it softly. "So, stop worrying about her, okay?" she said.
