Maria was wondering what will happen now that she and Anita had basically argued over the situation. Will it have the power to destroy their friendship forever? Is it going to be strong enough to break their friendship? She wondered what will happen to their friendship now and if the situation at hand will have the power to forever change their friendship because it didn't look like there was going to be any reconciliation between them as they both have extremely different feelings.
Anita missed Bernardo whose life was ended by Tony therefore she's frustrated with Maria for loving Tony and wants her to date another Puerto Rican,not Tony because she felt that Tony was one of them (a Jet) but Maria believed he wasn't because he had told her that. Maria loved Tony and just wanted him to be protected.
