It was 8 in the morning and i was usually surrounded with geet bhajan as  a normal typical pandit family have. But today there was another sound coming other than usual that woke me up.

(Pandit family aesthetic)

"NO!! I will only marry him. No one else" a sweet but yet it was noise for me came from the living room. By the sound i recognised it was my older sister 'Ms pooja Shukla '.

I was aware why she was shouting and about the boy she was mentioning. Pooja Di fell in love with this guy , her batchmate, when she was in college. His name is Ankit goyal.

I woke up and went up  to see what was happening.  Reaching the living hall there was my di on one side and rest family members on the other side . Di was behind the sofa at the corner of the living area holding it tightly scrubbing the material of sofa in anger.

"But he is from a different cast. He is not from a pandit family." Said Mrs Parvati Shukla aka my mom.
" What will the people of our community think and say . You aren't concerned about this family reputation but i am." With little tear in her eyes. My mom was sitting on the chair of the dining table with one hand on her thigh and another hand on her face.

And that was my orthodox mother. Yes i belong to an orthodox family. They believe that one should get married in same caste same religion.

" I agree on this. You can't get married to a baniya boy. I can't allow this, until i am alive. We will find a great pandit well educated groom for you." a voice full of anger. This was my father aka Mr Mahesh Shukla . He was sitting on the  sofa with both his hands resting on the armrest of the sofa.

"No! Ankit is really nice guy. He earns very well. Jay u tell them u have met him." Looking towards me di waited for my response. She was right i have met that guy and i was the first one in the whole family to whom Di had told about the guy ever since they were together in 6 years.

" Yes maa i have met him. He is good and i really like him.you should listen to Di and meet him and his family " I looked towards maa because that was obvious i was scared from my father.

"Jay don't talk in between and just focus on one thing which is more important than anything else getting yourself a college." A reality check given by maa

Aghh!! That was the topic where i went off guard every time. I have taken a year's drop but still couldn't get myself a college. I am a NEET  aspirant. Jayesh Shukla . And soon to turn 19 year old boy. But due to this fucking covid NEET UG exam are getting postponed. Everything is getting delayed. I am not left with any motive. I am disappointed...
