Weiying shrunk in his jacket. He’d never been to a gay bar before and the three of them stood out like a sore thumb.

“Huaisung... how gay should we act?” Jiang Cheng looked at Huaisung from the corner of his eye.

“Hah?! I dunno!” Huaisung retorted, obviously flustered.

“Should we hold hands?”

“Mate...” Huaisung stared at Jiang Cheng’s open palm. Rolling his eyes, he sighed, “Ok, ok. Come on. I need to drink.”

He dragged Jiang Cheng by the hand towards the bar and beckoned Weiying over.

“3- no 12 shots please!” Huaisung ordered.

“Ah-“ Weiying gasped.

“We need it. You need it, I need it.” Huaisung held up the hand that was intertwined with Jiang Cheng’s.

After taking the four ill-advised shots, Weiying looked out at the bobbing revelers. None wore expensive clothes nor spoke posh. People, just like him. His eyes moved across the room, halting momentarily. The man was tall, tanned and slender. Weiying flinched in embarrassment as the man met his gaze. Quickly, Weiying turned to the counter, feeling his pulse pick up. When he turned back around, the man was gone.

“What am I doing?” Weiying pouted, toying with the empty shot glass. This was no way to mend a broken heart.

“Huaisung, Jiang Cheng... I should head home...” Weiying spoke, shaking his head at his friends.

“What? You don’t like this?” Huaisung nearly shouted over the noise.

Jiang Cheng leaned on the counter to get the bartender, “Stay! At least we can drink ourselves silly!”

He flashed a cheeky grin at Weiying. Huaisung followed his eyes and nodded fervently.

“Ye besides what’re ye gonna do at home? Jerk off alone-“

“Hi!” a deep voice interrupted, coming from behind Weiying.

“I saw you and’ I thought I gotta buy you a drink.”

The man from before! He had a slight scruff and single-lidded eyes. A very sharp jaw. Not refined like Lan Wangji’s but his features were definitely fetching. Weiying was dumbfounded, unsure of what to do. A sharp nudge to his back pushed him towards the stranger who caught him by the arms.

“Are you alright there?” the man’s voice was different from Lan Wangji’s. Rough around the edges. Weiying jerked up.

“Y-yes!”

“First time?” The man pushed a glass of liquor towards Weiying and pulled another glass towards himself.

“Y-yes...

“What’re you looking for?”

Weiying blushed unwittingly upon recalling Huaisung’s words. The man laughed heartily.

“If you looking for that, I can definitely do that for you,” he slid an arm smoothly around Weiying’s narrow waist to pull him closer.

Weiying wasn’t sure if he should pull away. Why not? Wasn’t Lan Wangji in the arms of his future bride anyway? He allowed himself to be pulled along. Along with warmth and a little buzz, he couldn’t help feeling a little guilt.

“Let’s leave,” the man whispered hotly into Weiying’s ear after finishing his drink.

Weiying looked around frantically for his friends but they were nowhere to be found. His shoulders fell. Why not? Lan Wangji was too engaged to be married. A married man wouldn’t seek him out. He let himself be dragged out of the club and into the warm summer night.
