The crowd roared for your presence, screamed for students to fight one another, beat them to a pulp, break each bone just to see true power arise.

Citizens are not allowed to let their potential shine when it comes to quirks, only able to do so if it's small and for practical use, unlike the sports festival. A chance to see powers break the norms, unleash and destroy... as long as it was labeled for the greater good.

Blonde hair didn't blow in the wind that day, it was calm- the weather- and warm but not enough to make you sweat. Enough for a light breeze to pass through maybe, but the stand brought that to a halt, blocking the wind from touching your skin t hat writhed to let your quirk free.

It's an extension of your body after all, almost rooted deep inside you like it wasn't what it's meant to be.

More like a curse to have power like yours.

Like it was meant to be something so much greater but you could never figure out what it could be.

You had tried for so long, but no thoughts came to mind.

Electricity and nothingness doesn't make some magical power to crush villains. It spawned a burden.

A name to be feared.

To be hidden from everyone and all.

A title that brought only shame to you, splattered the blood on your fingers when deserved least.

Placing the blame of death on a child's hands while they still stood, staring at their mothers lifeless shell of a body crawled into the couch... was unforgivable.

But you couldn't blame them.

Nor could you blame the provocative hero standing above you from a distance, whip in hand, pointing towards the spinning jackpot to decide your fate.

"What could it be?" Midnight spoke, the machine stopping to reveal your challenge. An obstacle race. "All eleven classes will participate in the treacherous contest. The track is four kilometers around the outside of the stadium."

Midnight through her whip in the air, the red silk flowing down with her words through the loud speaker, her sultry voice sending shivers down the male viewers body and into their boxers. "I don't want to anyone... at least not in this game."

"She really knows how to make an audience fawn over her." You tilted your head to the boy next to you, his red hair spiking into the air.

"Yeah she sure does."

With the lick of her lips she continued, throwing her arms into a welcoming pose, very welcoming. "As long as you don't leave the course you're free to do whatever your heart desires!" The crowd erupted into cheers, excited building in them to see a bunch of kids fight eachother. Disgusting. "Now contestants, take your place."

The green lights lit on a red archway, each student peering up at them with anticipation.

But you held back, leaning against the concrete walls.

'They're all going to run in at once and get jammed together.' You scoffed at their stupidity, leaning your head against the wall as the sound of bleeping sirens slowly set off the first race. 'Idiots.'

"Begin!" Midnight called from behind. She gave you a look as confusion when you didn't run along, you giving a smirk in return and turning to the doorway, the year only a few meters in but stuck in a huddle.

You turned your head to the red archway, glitching your body till you landed on it, Shota and Present Mic's voice calling through the intercom but you blocked it out.
