Watching someone get cut down in what they presumed was their prime was a heartbreaking moment for you.
Someone you considered a friend, who pulled you away from embarrassment near minutes ago being thrown on his back, humbled by someone he had never met... It gave you a reality check,
You weren't the strongest in the arena. You were just another student in a crowd filled to the brim hoping to have your moment to shine.
Shinsou, lay on his back with an ache in his spine, staring at the boy above him. His green messed up locks blown out of shape from the gust of wind he conjured but he didn't look at him with smugness or delight.
He was shocked?
Yes, shocked that he broke away from the hypnosis and shocked he was able to beat someone.
But why would he be shocked? At the start of the match he knew what Shinsou would do, that's why he held his tongue till breaking point. Surely he knew his power and how easily he could overcome Hitoshi.
You knew the strength of your power and what it could do. Kaminari would be no challenge for you yet you still felt some anxiety.
It had only grown stronger with every round. That's what made you anxious; strength comes with consequence.
Your body was weak compared to the quirk inside it. Everyone around you was on level with their quirk. Even your opponent was in touch with his own even when frying his brain, but you, no.
"(Y/N), are you okay?" How had he got there so fast?
You jumped at Midoriyas voice and is hand hovering over your shoulder. "Oh," You said. "Hey. Well done down there, you did great."
He sat next to you, leaning over to his bag and grabbing a notebook and pen, the book burnt and scribbled on with the number 13. Only one person could make those kind of marks, so you turned to him.
Bakugou lent over the row of seats you sat in with his elbows, eyes lazy as he watched Todoroki and Sero's pictures on the big screen. His portrait must be terrible. A great snarl like a dog or a devious grin, something horrid. Though he never noticed your eyes on him, something still forced blood to your cheeks, a small curve at the edge of your lips creasing into your face.
The redhead sat by his side of course. Rambling on about something you knew just passed through one ear and out the other without a thought. You looked to the boy next to him, Denki, who when he saw your gaze on him was quick to give an awkward smile, point to the match-up board displaying your names next to each other, and mutter a sorry.
You thought back to how you treated him. So rough for no reason at all. You were used to the pranks of him and the ball headed freak, sometimes playing into them.
You wanted to say sorry, say something was wrong and confide in someone, anyone.
But you couldn't. No, keep it inside and wait till the day was over. You had someone to talk to, someone who cared.
Turning back to the match, the buzzer went off. You expected Todoroki to move instantly yet he stood still. Tape wrapping around him, flinging him across the stadium.
He made no effort to counteract for a moment. His body aimlessly going through the air. Till he reached out his forearm, for what he could, from under the tape, a slither of ice coating the floor, then spreading into and ever growing iceberg.
A fool you were to let yourself blink, for when you opened your eyes, they flashed a warning sign, a gasp reaching from your breath as the shards threatened to touch your skin. It all turned to pixels as you shut your eyes tight, your body shaking and phasing through air in terror.
