« Seo Joon and Ji Wook, meeting tomorrow morning, 9 am, in my office. An urgent case arrived. I'll explain the details tomorrow. Have a nice day, Kim Seung Min. »

That's how a lousy week starts. Ji Wook isn't stupid, and he knows that if they meet, he and Seo Joon will probably have to work with each other on the following case. Mr. Kim quickly learned that putting them together on a case might not be the best idea.

Ji Wook has always worked at Kim Law Office. It's the best law firm in Seoul. He gets along well with everyone except Park Seo Joon. Them being the two best lawyers in their firm, a rivalry started between them not unnoticed by Mr. Kim. Trying to talk to each other without bickering is not an option, so making them work together is almost impossible.

Ji Wook has this feeling that Seo Joon got it easy. Coming from a wealthy and successful family, his parents are famous and recognized doctors and judges. He sees Seo Joon as a spoiled child who vaguely follows his father's footsteps because it is an easy path. A genius child, he was predestined to follow his parent's way. For Ji Wook, being a lawyer hasn't always been his goal in life. He wanted to be a pilot; he studied in this field until he was 16. When his parents divorced, his mother lost almost all her personal property, and her ex-husband managed to get everything. Seeing the injustice of their divorce and his mother's distress, Ji Wook couldn't help but change his path. He promised himself to bring justice to his mom by helping others. It was not easy, and he struggled a lot but succeeded with perseverance.

He expects a complicated case involving someone well-known, an important public figure. The boss would never ask them to work together otherwise.

« A black coffee... Fits you well.

– Park. I see you're on time today.

– Chang, why so much hostility? You're always so grumpy. You should smi-»

Ji Wook, not wanting to make any effort to continue the conversation, left towards his office without listening to the end of what Seo Joon was saying. He took the rest of the day to finish the things he had in hand to focus on the new case tomorrow.

Tuesday. 9:10 am. Kim Seung Min finally walks into the meeting room to begin the briefing.

« Sorry for being late; some last-minute information on the case arrived this morning. Said the boss while distributing the file to the other two. You have surely deduced that you two are going to work together on the following file-

– Boss, I don't think it's-

– Chang, no excuse. It's a big case for the firm; I want my two best men on the spot. The two lawyers acquiesced despite their lack of enthusiasm; Seung Min sighed lightly before resuming. You undoubtedly know Lee Jong Suk; he goes by the name Theo. He was a renowned model, ambassador of several brands, public figure and above all, son of Lee Sang Hoon, CEO of Volt Corp. His father contacted me personally; his son was allegedly involved in a drug and prostitution case while he was at the Milan Fashion Week. Things don't look good for him, all the details are hazy, and no one seems to have the same story version. I just got notified that Theo is coming back to Korea tomorrow. It's an international affair, Lee Sang Hoon has managed to hold back the press from the scandal, but it won't last. I'm counting on you to unravel the truth. Lee Sang Hoon is playing big, and so are we. Questions?

– None

– No, everything is crystal clear.

– Perfect, Seo Joon, your intern, is arriving today; he will be able to help you. I want all your attention and concentration on this case. I want a weekly report on how the situation looks for Theo. That's all. Dismissed. »

Leaving the meeting, the two lawyers have no choice but to face their difference. They both understand the importance of this case; they need to find the truth as soon as possible. They decide that working in a more spacious space will be more convenient, so they settle in one of the conference rooms.

They first need to know the exact conditions under which the event occurred. The charges against Theo are heavy, and the evidence minimal, the testimonies transmitted by the Milan police are inconsistent with each other. International cases are always more complicated to manage but are never impossible. They hope that their meeting with Theo tomorrow will clarify the whole situation.

« Hello...

– Oh, Park Hyung Sik, right ? The so-called Hyung Sik nodded. Perfect, nice to meet you, Park Seo Joon. Your internship starts at an ideal time, we just had a big case handed to us, so having one more person won't be too much. In front of you is Chang Ji Wook, we are working together on this. We'll get to know each other better later, let's get into it right now. Here's the summary of the case. If I'm not mistaken, you specialize in criminal and penal law.

– Yes, exactly.

– Perfect, so let's start...»

After summing up the situation to Hyung Sik, they each divided up tasks to do, there's information to verify. It's essential to work quickly and satisfactorily. The 8-hour time difference between Italy and Korea will make the contact more difficult.

Two weeks have passed since the first meeting and the leads they have to defend Theo are slim. The press didn't hesitate to go public on the whole story a week after Theo's return, which is not helping anyone. After nearly two weeks of finding new leads, and placing all the events chronologically, they finally determine the beginning of the problem: a huge party organized by a gang from Milan. Ji Wook and Seo Joon are convinced that the accusations against the model are false and that he's being framed. Thanks to Choi Soo Young, a model staying in Milan, a friend of Theo who was with him at the start of the evening, they managed to get information faster than the local police.

Soo Young managed to find someone who was at the party, is part of the gang, and is hoping to collaborate. To maintain communication at all times and gain his trust, Hyung Sik must always remain with Theo, linking the law firm and their witnesses. They hope that this way they can work more effectively on several fronts. It's their most decisive lead since they started, maybe it's the one they were missing to figure out the whole situation.

« Hyung Sik, go to bed, he's never gonna answer now, it's 3 pm in Milan. You know he's only answering in the evening.

– You never know, it's Thursday. Maybe he works less on weekdays.

– Sik-ah... It's 11 pm, go to bed.

– I can still stay awake for a bit.

– Your eyes are closing alone. Is it because you don't want to leave me alone...

– Tell me the second he answers if you don't want to end up in jail! Said Hyung Sik walking to the bedroom door.

– I promised! I'll come to get you the second he and- Sik-ah! Your phone! Oh, it's Yohan's birthday today! Who's Yohan?

– My little brother... whispered Hyung Sik while heading towards Theo to take his phone. No one, we haven't talked in years. See you tomorrow, Theo. »
