She could have stayed in that moment for hours, slowly deepening their gentle kiss as Musa allowed herself to release the tension she had been building the whole night- no, her whole life.

She revelled in the wave of quiet that he brought her. She had never felt such peace of mind.

However, she slowly became more conscious of her surroundings, the sounds, her thoughts and her actions, and dread began to cloud her mind.

Not because what she was doing was wrong... but because it felt so right.

"Oh my god, what is wrong with me?" Musa pulled away and stood up, shuffling backwards in horror.

"I'm sorry, with everything going on, I just forgot who I was for a moment." Her voice was panicked and flustered.

"And who you are." She added bitterly.

"Right. Because you hate me?" He clarified humourlessly as he got up.

"Yeah. That. Exactly."

"Clearly."

"Excuse me?"

A smirk formed on Gantlos' lips.

"What are you smiling at? What is wrong with you. We hate each other. This," she gestured between them, "cannot happen."

"Did I ever give you a reason to hate me?"

Musa paused, drawing in a sharp, incredulous breath.

"You're joking, right? The earth fairies-"

"Let me be specific. A personal reason."

"Roxy! And you kidnapped Flora-"

"Actually my brother did that."

"You still helped."

"No. Anagan kidnapped Flora by accident. And you barely know Roxy from what I've gathered, so let me repeat the question again: what have I done to make you hate me?"

He knew he had her.

Gantlos stalked towards her and, closing the gap between them, he leaned down by her ear.

"Don't bother lying to me, darling. I can tell."

Musa looked at him with intrigue as he pulled away from her. So she wasn't the only one who had that ability? Must be his seismic sense, or something.

His eyes softened when they found her's again.

"You may wake up tomorrow and wish none of this had ever happened, but I know that I'll regret if I don't say this now. Ever since I first laid eyes on you, Musa, I've been drawn to you. I once thought it was only our connected power, but I know it's more than that."

Musa stared at him blankly. This was the most she had ever heard him express himself. Even he seemed surprised by it.

His voice was steady and its pitch constant- he was telling the truth.

He drew in a deep breath before continuing.

"The whole world is against us. We are on opposite sides of a centuries long war. No matter how I feel for you we cannot deny that. So, if this is the only night we will ever have, then I want it to be one with no regrets."

"It was a siren song." She cut in.

"What?"

"The trance. It was a siren song I used on you. To distract you."

Gantlos considered this for a moment, nodding at her impressive ability.

"And for the record, I don't regret tonight. I regret how it happened, but not what it meant." Musa smiled at him, one that contained pain and joy and longing.
