Chenle had been gone for weeks. He'd gone back to China for 'family matters', but hadn't returned. And they weren't expecting him to for a while.

So it was a surprise for Renjun and Mark when the door opened, the two turning around ready to face a robber. Instead, there stood Chenle, looking both physically and emotionally drained. He looked at them and made a beeline for his room, locking it behind him.

"Did you see his face?" Mark asked the second oldest, who nodded.

"Something's definitely wrong." Renjun muttered. "Let's give him some space and check on him tomorrow."

Mark nodded, and sent Renjun off to bed, going Soon after.

The next day, however, came faster than they thought. They were not looking forward to confronting Chenle.

"Chenle, can I come in?" Renjun asked in Chinese. The lock clicked and Chenle opened the door, looking as though he came out of hell. "Chenle, what happened?"

"Gege..." Chenle began to cry, taking Renjun by surprise. He quickly went in and closed the door, giving Chenle privacy.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Renjun asked, very worried.

"M-my grandparents disowned me for liking boys." Chenle cried. "They said they wouldn't have a- a grandson who couldn't give them great grandchildren. My Gege tried to argue... But they told him to shut up or they'd disown him t-too."

All the NCT members knew Chenle was gay. Heck, half of them were. But Chenle's family were the most homophobic people ever

"Oh, Chenle." Renjun cooed. "Don't listen to them. They're idiots, and liking boys doesn't matter. You have us, okay? We're all here."

"Renjun, what's going on?" It was Mark, his voice floating into the room from outside.

"Hyung, wait first. There's something we need to talk about. Let me just- yeah." Renjun called back. He managed to calm Chenle down, letting him shower as tidy himself up.

He went into the living room where he saw all the Dreamies sitting, on the edge of their seats.

"What's going on Renjun?" Mark repeated.

"You can't overwhelm Chenle okay?" Renjun asked.

"We won't." Haechan said earnestly. The others all agreed, so Renjun began to talk.

"His grandparents disowned him for being gay." He said quietly from his place on the floor. "They didn't want a grandson who couldn't give them great grandchildren. And I have an idea that they may be racist. They don't want a Korean in his family."

"That stupid!" Jeno burst out. "He lives in Korea! How is he expected to have a career as an idol when all he would be able to think about is finding a Chinese GIRL?"

"I don't know." Renjun sighed. "The easiest thing is for us to do right now is inform Taeyong Hyung."

"I'll go." Mark volunteered. "Who wants to go with me?"

In the end, Jisung and Jaemin ended up going. Renjun, Jeno and Haechan went to check on Chenle. He seemed to be doing better, but he was still very miserable, so they found various ways to cheer him up.

Haechan called Kun, who said had come over with Winwin. Jeno and Renjun watched a movie with Chenle, and by the time the two WayV members arrived, he was considerably more happy. It cheered shim up even more to see the other Chinese boys.

Mark and the other Dreamies returned soon after, informing them that Taeyong knew and would ask management to put Chenle on hiatus.

That's why at this moment, Chrnle was squashed in a huge cuddle pile, with Winwin, Kun and Renjun on either side and on top of him.

"Guys, I- I can't breathe." He choked out. They finally released him, happy to see his smiling face.

They knew Chenle would need time and might never truly get over what happened, but with their help, he could do it.
