AU where Dream only.became fixed in 2021 and the others didn't return.

Jisung and Chenle were the only original ones left in Dream. The 00'liners left before SM announced Dream as a fixed unit, so it was Chenle, Jisung, and five others. Chenle and Jisung were appointed co-leaders, SM realizing neither of them would be able to do it without the other. They truly were soulmates.

However much Jisung didn't want it, he couldn't reject the fact that he was now part of Dream's hyung line, no longer a maknae.

"Hey, Jisungie." Chenle slipped into their shared room. "I'm taking Kay to the clinic, he seems to be having some pain in his back."

"Oh no. Be safe, okay?" He saw Chenle nod and leave, heard the door lock, and knew he was alone. The other four had gone to visit 127, and however much he longed to see Mark, Haechan, Jeno and Jaemin again, he still had to finish going through the new dance.

Kay was eventually ordered to rest, and Jisung became even more distracted. They were a member down, they had to work around it.

"Jisungie, you're getting enough rest right?" Chenle asked in concern. "You were up till 2 yesterday."

"I'm fine." Jisung smiled convincingly. "Don't worry, Lele."

Despite their close bond, Chenle couldn't help but feel distance from Jisung ever since last week.

Jisung knew he needed rest. His body screamed at him to lie down and close his eyes. But he kept going until he perfected the dance.

Alas, the accident had to happen while 127 we're sharing the practice room with them.

Deprived of 3 full days of sleep, Jisung kept stumbling around and they went over the dance again and again. Finally, Jisung's body gave out and he collapsed to the floor, making Chenle cry out in shock.

"JISUNG!" He called. "PARK JISUNG! WAKE UP!"

Their hyungs were alerted, and they rushed over, the old Dreamies in the lead.

"What happened?" Mark demanded.

"I dont- Oh, Jisung." Chenle sighed as the realization set in. "I told you to take care of yourself."

"What do you mean?" Johnny asked, fear settling in the pit of his stomach.

"He's been overworking." Chenle said. "I told him to rest but he didn't listen. He never did. Not even as 7Dream. Did he, hyungs?"

There was a murmur of agreement from Renjun, Jaemin, Jeno, Mark and Haechan.

"Hey, sleepyhead." Jaemin said playfully, when Chenle opened his eyes. "Your baby's awake."

Chenle jumped off the sofa and hurried to his and Jisung's room.

"Sungie!"

"Lele!" Jisung was sitting up in bed and a squeak left his lips as Chenle burst in.

"Jisungie, do you know how dangerous that was?" Chenle scolded. "Living without sleep could kill you!"

"I'm sorry." Jisung said sheepishy. "I just wanted to be perfect."

"Our little perfectionist." Mark said affectionately, ruffling his hair. "Sungie, you don't have to always be perfect. Everyone has off days."

Jisung no longer tried to be perfect after that. He felt much lighter, and performed better too. Maybe Mark was right. He didn't need to try to be perfect, because he was better without it.
