The house had been unusually quite for a while now. Lindsey moved back in a week ago and since then he'd been at Stevie's side. She knew his intentions were good, but she silently begged for him to realize that she was starting to feel suffocated. He wanted to make sure she was comfortable, eating well and getting enough sleep, which was fine, but being constantly followed around? That Stevie didn't particularly like. However, Lindsey had spent the last several hours out of her sight and she began wondering, what he was up to.

It didn't take a genius to know where to look for Lindsey. Stevie walked out into the backyard and followed the narrow path to their home studio. Well, it really was mostly Lindsey's, but she occasionally spent some time in there too.

"Is that a new song?" Stevie asked, listening to the unfamiliar melody Lindsey was strumming.

"Uh, not sure yet." He shrugged. "It's... something." He smiled, lifting his head up to look at her. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Well..." Stevie trailed off, walking over the ugly brown leather couch that she absolutely hated to sit down. "I maybe kinda missed you following me around."

"Oh?" Lindsey laughed lightly, still quietly playing his instrument. "Is that a good thing or bad that I do that? It's not entirely clear." He asked, sounding somewhat careful.

Stevie leaned back in her seat, crossing her legs, her hand naturally rested on her belly. There was nothing there yet, but it melted his heart into a puddle, seeing how protective of their unborn child she was.

"Since you've brought it up." Stevie paused to clear her throat. "I appreciate you wanting to take care of me, I really do."

"But?" Lindsey's hand moved away from the strings of his guitar. "It's too much?"

"A bit, yeah." Stevie nodded, answering him honestly. "You don't have to constantly be right there with me, Linds. I enjoy the attention, but it's okay if you want to spend some time away from me. I won't take it as a bad sign or think that you've changed your mind about us."

"Okay." Lindsey said. "Thank you for communicating that to me. I want to be there because as I've already told you, I can't prove anything to you with words, so I'm trying to show you."

"I understand." Stevie gave him a modest smile, letting him know that they were not about to get into an argument. "But we're okay."

"See, told you we didn't have to go to marriage counselling." Lindsey joked, making her laugh.

"That remains to be seen." Stevie replied with a pointed look. She rose to her feet. "Dinner should be about ready. If the house hasn't burned down yet while I was in here." She added. "Would you like to join me?"

Lindsey nodded eagerly, putting his instrument away as he too stood up. "I'm starving!"

"When are you ever not?" Stevie teased as she moved to leave his hideout with him just a step behind.
