Rewritten as if Grady never interrupted. Also it's in Keefe pov. A good chunk of this does not belong to me. It's the original writing from the book, Shannon's writing is in italics. I guess I was just in the mood for rewriting today. This is so much worse than the other nightfall one I'm sorry, it's so cringe and short.

"Don't you miss when crushes were only silly, secret things?" Sophie asked quietly. "Suddenly it's all getting so... real-and not just because of this. I mean...Fitz already finished filling out his matching making packet. And you probably need to go pick up yours-if you haven't already."

Keefe smirked "so that's what kept you up tossing and turning? Wondering if I've registered for the match?"

"Ugh, that's so not what I was saying."

"Suuuuuuuuuurrrrreee it wasn't."

She tried to roll her eyes and turn away, but he grabbed her hands to stop her. "I don't want you losing sleep, Foster. So let me set that powerful little mind of yours at ease. I have not registered for the match, and I won't be for a while."

"Why not?"

He shrugged. "Waiting to see how a few things shake out."

"Well, FYI, these dark circles are because of my sister. I hailed her to check in after Dex left, and she made me stay up super late updating her on everything."

"Everything?" Keefe asked. "Even..."

He made an obnoxiously loud kissing sound.

Sophie shoved him away.

He jumped in front of her. "Okay, fine, you want me to be serious again. I don't like it. But I will. Because I do get what you're saying, Foster. All of this...stuff. It makes everything way more complicated.

Sophie nodded. "I just don't want to lose anything that matters, you know?"

"You haven't lost Dex," Keefe promised. "Trust the empath!"

When she didn't smile, he leaned in and whispered, "And here's another thing you can count on. You'll never lose me. No matter how any of this stuff goes down."

He could tell she caught the truth in his voice and her breath seemed to catch.

But then he had to ruin the moment, if it really was one, and he leaned back and added, "I have way too much fun annoying you."

Sophie sighed. "That does seem to be one of your talents."

"And you adore me for it. In fact, maybe we should find out if we're meant to be."

He puckered his lips and Sophie shoved him a little harder that time. (Italics after this point are just for emphasis)

Keefe felt Sophie's emotions change, but he couldn't identify them. Was that.. Curiosity? Or was it nervousness? At this point it might as well have been pure anger and happiness!

Sophie turned her head and seemed to notice that Keefe had been staring at the back of it. Her cheeks turned as red as they did practically every other hour at this point.

"What... are you doing?" She asked, and Keefe could finally identify an emotion. Fluttery. He had made her feel fluttery.

"I just can't figure out your emotions sometimes, Foster." He admitted. "Can you just feel one emotion at a time for a few minutes?"

"You...Can't feel that?" She asked curiously. Feel what?

"Well I felt your mood shift." He answered. "But I couldn't tell what it shifted to, care to explain?" He had an idea of the emotion, but if he was wrong and said something he could ruin everything.

"I figured something out." She said slowly

"Figuring something out isn't an emotion." Keefe pointed out, though her reply made him more sure of his suspicions.

"Fine," She said. "I realized that maybe...I do want to find out." He was definitely sure of it now. The emotion he'd felt earlier was love.

Sophie had figured out that she loved Keefe.

Sophie Foster loved him.

"Oh really?" He asked, showing his trademark smirk and trying not to show how hard he was freaking out.

Sophie Foster loved him.

And she knew she loved him.

"I don't know what you're talking about." He teased.

Sophie lightheartedly glared at him and he smirked back.

Keefe leaned closer, leaving enough space for Sophie to pull back if she changed her mind.

She didn't.

She closed the distance between them and judging by her emotions it was much better than her kiss with Dex.

It was definitely the best first kiss Keefe could've asked for.

When they pulled away, Keefe remembered that...they probably weren't alone. There was almost definitely an overprotective goblin watching them.

Sophie must've made that connection too because she looked around, her face turning beat red when she spotted Sandor in a corner.

Sandor didn't say anything, but he did shoot a very angry glare towards Keefe.
