"Hurry up, Lora!!", My mom yelled so loud I think the whole country heard.
"One second!!", I hollered from my room upstairs. I keep forgetting to set my alarm for a little earlier. Completely my fault since I stayed up late last night on my phone texting my boyfriend.
I run like hell down the stairs and quickly tell my mom bye. She just rolls her eyes. Which signals she's absolutely tired of my crap. But hey what can I say it's my senior year and I'm half way through the last semester.
I make it to my black Toyota Camry which is really dusty. Because my whole family decided to live way on back in the woods in rural Georgia. At least though we don't have any nosy neighbors.
I jump in my car and head to my high school which is hell on earth. I plug in my aux and listen to "West Coast", by the literal goddess Lana Del Rey. I make it on time to school in 20 minutes and pull into my parking spot.
I check my makeup in the mirror, and brush down my crazy natural, platinum blonde hair. Okay, before you hate on me I swear, I've never bleached my hair which is odd because my hair is so light. Compared to my brown headed mom, dad, and older brother.
Anyways, I immediately spot my sandy blonde headed also lightly tanned boyfriend, Lucas. We've dated for a few months now after we met on the field after his football practice.
I open my car door to finding Lucas standing with his usual confidence. Especially, being the captain of the football team. "Hey, babe," he says as he watches me step out of my car.
"Good morning, Luke," I say enthusiastically. He looks at me up and down then his beautiful smile turns into a grimace.
It's only 7am and somehow I pissed him off. "Lora why are you wearing that low cut of a shirt? Like are you wanting attention from my teammates?!" He practically snarls at me.
"Well, I thought it wasn't that low cut and I was running behind after talking with you all night." I explained to him so I don't set him off today.
He took a deep breath and then sighed,"Alright, I'll let it slide only because you apologized."
I smiled at him and then gave him a kiss before class was about to start. I hear the school bell go off signaling class was starting. I tell Luke bye and meet up with Delaney who already is giving me the stink eye as I sit behind her.
"What?!", I ask her with annoyance in my tone.
"Uh nope you don't what me! You know why I'm annoyed because little miss let's little boy, Lucas walk all over her daily!!", Delaney exclaims very loudly in my ear. She basically has steam coming out of her.
"No I don't." I simply state.
She gives me that side eye. Delaney continues to huff, "Lora you know he treats you bad, and yet you're still with him. And your an absolutely gorgeous girl like you could get with any guy. So why stay with the little weasel Lucas when all he does is control you?!"
She gives me that usual pointed look with her brown curls bopping around her face. And I know she's right but sometimes I doubt myself. I just feel like I'm not good enough at times. And Luke scares me when he gets mad because if I talk about us moving on after high school. He gets into these fits of rage and will hit me.
He makes a point to do it in places nobody will see the bruising. He gets off on hurting me and I'm just too scared to tell anyone. It's embarrassing I can't find the strength to ask for help. But in other cases he's really sweet to me when he's in a good mood after.
I then answer Delaney with a simple, " it's fine." Because every time she tells me I should break up with him I just say those two words and she quits taking about it.
Delaney sighs and just nods her head and moves a piece of hair over with her nicely manicured nails. Then, the whole class period we pass notes to each other.
