Hans' escort announced," Hans Peterson from Technical Support, Sir."
The Secretary of State said," Thank you officer, you may go now."
The officer left and the head of CIA started,"Thank you for coming on such short notice Mr.Peterson. At present we are facing a very dangerous situation, a situation the type of which you are an expert at handling; but this one is with much higher stakes."
Hans replied,"With all due respect sir, I don't believe there can be any higher stakes than 180 human lives."
"Not if the 180 people on board include 50 U.S. senators Mr.Peterson, that's half of the US Senate. If we lose them, the country's governance will be adversely affected. At 1930 hrs. today Dern airlines Flight-102, a Flint Galaxy, took off from Reagan Washington National Airport. At 2000 hrs. we received a call from the pilot stating that the controls are jammed; the plane is not responding to the controls even now and the plane's fuel will last only for an hour. We need your help, and the clock is ticking." the Secretary of the United States Air Force said.
Hans took a deep breath and said,"How long ago was it decided that the senators will take this flight?"
The Secretary of State replied," The trip was scheduled a week ago, but the flight was decided only today morning. Mr. Hans, are you hinting at a sabotage?"
"I am not hinting, I am stating that it is a sabotage! Commercial airliners don't become unresponsive to pilots all of a sudden. Either it is a sabotage, or for some strange reason the three hydraulic control systems along with the back-up electrical system failed. The chances of the latter happening 'accidentally' are close to nil. Hence, it is clearly a sabotage, but eIther way we can't isolate and rectify the problem within an hour.", Hans said.
"Are you telling us that there is nothing we can do to save the plane?" the CIA chief asked with a worried expression on his face.
Hans said,"There may not be much we can do about the plane, but we can save the passengers, though the idea which I am presenting has never been done before; but neither has such a situation ever come before in the history of modern aviation."
"Okay. So what is your plan?" asked the secretary of the USAF.
