9th May

0900 hrs.

T.S. headquarters

"At the moment we cannot comment about the technicalities of the incident, but we strongly believe that it was not a terrorist attack. Very few people knew that the senators would be travelling in that flight. In fact, their travel schedule had been changed in the last minute, and they had been booked into Flight-102 only on the day of the flight."

"This was the reaction of the press secretary, on being asked whether there was any possibility that the aircraft, was sabotaged... And moving on to our next top stories."

"Brian, will you turn that thing down!" Hans snapped at Brian.

"Calm down, its not as if its disturbing you or anything, you tune out everything when you work. Moreover my interview is supposed to come up anytime now."

Hans lifts his head from his work and asks lazily," Wow, I didn't know that they'd be interested in learning how to set up one's house on fire, unless the interview is on AFV; in which case I totally understand."

"Make as much fun of me as you want Hans! but while you're shying away from the media, I'm getting popular by the moment."

At this point a man enters the room. He is tall, muscular and has a gun."Mr. Hans?" he asks.

"That's me" Hans answered.

The man replied,"I'm special agent Smith of the CIA. Our chief wanted you to sign this form stating that under no condition will you disclose any sensitive information regarding Flight-102."

"You mean the truth?" asked Brian.

"No sir, only sensitive information" he replied taking out a form from his briefcase. Hans takes a glance at the form and signs it. "Will that be all Mr.Smith?"

"That'll be all Mr.Peterson." The man leaves the room as swiftly and silently as he came in.

Brian speaks up,"Well, that was a bit creepy. What do you think the gun was for?"

"I don't know Brian. I don't know." Hans replies.

Three hours later

"You don't have to do this Hans, its the job of the NTSB to investigate the crash, and I know this may come as a shock to you, but you are not in the investigation team!" Brian said for what seemed like the hundredth time.

"I don't know what you're complaining for, you're not doing anything!" Hans retorted,"This plane was sabotaged and you know it, anyone with the slightest knowledge of planes would tell that on hearing the details. I guess that's why they're not releasing the details to the public."

"So, you're going to enlighten them. Is that what you're planning to do? Get real! Even if you find something, you can't reveal it. Do I need to remind you about James Bond and his contract?"asked Brian while pouring himself a cup of coffee.

Hans stares at his laptop's screen not knowing what to say to that.

Brian sighed,"Dude, you can't do everything, however badly you want to do it. You did an amazingly great job saving those people, and preventing the plane from causing damage on the ground, but you need to give this quest up. I agree that it clearly looks like a sabotage, but what was the point of doing it? Even the senators were booked only in the last minute, plus no one is claiming responsibility, and believe me, if there is one thing that terrorist groups are not known for, it is for being humble about their achievements. Leave it alone, ask Tim for a break and go for a vacation, I'll handle the report and the media attention."

"I guess you're right Brian." said Hans.

"I always am."replied Brian.

"Don't push it." said Hans as he walked out of the room.

O'Hare International Airport

1830 hrs.

Hans reached the boarding gate an hour before his flight's scheduled take off. He was going on a vacation to Orlando(suggestion of Brian) but he was in no vacation mood."Why sabotage this plane, and why do it in this manner? There are far more easier ways to sabotage a plane, methods which don't require much knowledge about planes, yet the supposed saboteur chose to disable the plane's controls, even the throttle. Why?"Hans thought to himself. There was the answer to this question in some corner of his brain, he can feel it but can't place his finger on it.

"This is the final boarding call for Dern airlines flight-76 to New York. All passengers are requested to reach gate 15 immediately."

"New York, this is where the biggest disaster in the history of aviation took place. The plan was not entirely successful though, the terrorists had failed to take into account the human factor in case of Flight-93. If that plane had not crashed prematurely it could have caused a lot of damage on the ground." thought Hans.

"Sir, we're going to start boarding shortly" said the attendant at the boarding gate when she saw Hans get up.

"Thank you, but I'm not taking the flight ! "replied Hans, and then he left.

T.S. Headquarters

2100 hrs.

Hans entered his office and was greeted by the very rare sight of Brian working.

"God! Hans! I'm sitting here working overtime so that you can go on a vacation, and here I see you looking hell bent on doing god knows what!"

Hans said quickly,"Spare me from the theatrics, I think I've got the motive behind the sabotage, but I'm not sure."

"Its going to be a looong night, isn't it?" said Brian.
