Darius POV

Working through piles of paper to prepare for an upcoming alpha meeting with the packs in this surrounding area, making it easier to get it over quickly but also difficult to know if something is happening in other territory and places. I finished reading all the bullet points that out line most of what will be talked about, moving onto my packs work I jot little things down that need to be ordered in. My office door bursts open revealing Zoe one of the most troublesome wolves in this pack nearly everyone has asked me to shun her from the pack. She walks up to me with a cocky attitude standing in front of me trying to demand my attention. I ignore her hoping she will leave but all she does it lean down to my shoving her face in front of my vision her horribly sweat perfume clogs into my nose. I try pushing her off, but she puts her knee between my legs keeping me in place, I drop my pen gripping the arm rest of the chair digging my claws in puncturing holes in the plastic. Frustrated I try not to dig my claws into her flesh of course at this moment Camilla walks in leaning nonchalant against the door frame. Zoe screeches out at Camilla on why she isn't doing anything whatever Camilla says gets Zoe storming out of the room shoving her on the way out. Putting my head in my hands I dig through my hair trying to calm down.

My hands get placed on hips moving with the wolf that sits on my lap sideways her sent ingulfs my helping me calm down and relax, her white hair sways then her face pops into my vision zeroing in on my eyes seeing their darkened state. A soft sigh of contemplation leaves her lips as she looks away from me leaning further into me.

"I wasn't going to tell you this, but my real name is Scarlett" Looking at her tan face I can see the worry lining her grey eyes, to make sure she isn't telling me this due to what Zoe did.

"You didn't have to tell me that because of what Zoe did" My voice comes out strained but calm, slowly I rest my right hand on top of her knee while I wrap my left around her back helping to support her, leaving my hand on her hip.

"I didn't, you needed to something to focus on" Nodding i let us sit in silence.

Once i have calmed completely down she removes herself from me leaving the room softly closing the door behind her. Shuffling my chair back to the desk I continue with the boring paperwork trying to finish it as fast as possible so I can try and spend more time with her before she has to leave.

By the time I am actually finished with all of the work I look out the window noticing the bright moon outside. Inhaling sharply, I speed walk out of the pack house back to mine kicking myself for thinking I wouldn't need my car. Walking inside I don't see Camilla on the couch or in the first story of the house at all. Pacing up the stairs I shove my door open looking around the room seeing her bag on the floor but not her. I don't want to cause a panic with the others, so I shoot out of the house changing shape into a wolf sprinting on all fours through my territory trying to find her sent anywhere. I find it faintly leading me to the crystal lake, keeping my distance I observe her sitting on the rock with another calmly talking with each other. Happy that she has made a friend within my pack I confidently leave knowing that she is going to stay this time.

Dashing off to my parents knowing that they all will still be up I change back knocking on the door before walking in going to the lounge room where I find them watching a show on tv. Sitting down on the free armchair. Mum walks out bringing back a small plate of leftovers from their dinner, happily I gobble it up remembering that I didn't have lunch. I finish putting the empty plate on the side table ignoring my siblings looks.

"Mum, am I doing the right thing for my mate, how do I know" I question after my siblings leave to their rooms. She looks at me lovingly a small smile gracing her lips as her attention swiftly turns to dad giving him a knowing look.

"Honey, we can't tell you what's right and wrong everyone is different you know that and that means you need to figure out what is right for her, and she will figure out what is the right thing for you. That's what bonding is for to get to know each other better" Her explanation makes sense, but it doesn't help me figure her out.

"She's just so, so skittish in a way and doesn't trust anyone keeping her distance from everyone but mostly me, it's just hard and a lot of the time I don't know what to do" Scrubbing my face I let my vulnerability fully show to them knowing I can't hide anything from them anyway.

"Perhaps it has something to do with her past, do you know anything about her past that might help you out" Dad asks, thinking back to everything I know about her I realise I only know very little about her, hardly anything in fact.

"No, each time I try to learn more about her she puts her guard up moving away from herself"

"Sometimes it just takes awhile alright you just need to keep trying and be there for her when she might need you" She consoles knowing I'll take her advice.

"There's also another problem – not with my mate with Zoe-"

"The one everyone wants to kick out of the pack, some have tried me to overrule your decision" My dad cuts me off aggravated at hearing her name.

"Yes, that one, she won't leave me alone especially now she knows I have a mate it frustrates me because no matter what I do she will not leave me alone" Dragging my fingers through my hair I look to my dad seeing if he has anything I can do to keep her under control. He shakes his head, there's nothing I can do that I haven't already done, and I don't really want to reject her from the pack for multiple reasons.

Moving off of the topic of Zoe I spend time catching up with my parents also making excuses as to why I had to be away from the pack with Scarlett. Eventually I needed to say goodbye to them getting told to visit more often and i promised I would try to knowing it's an empty promise. Leaving the light of their house I walk to the training grounds where no one is luckily but I suppose that would be because they all would be in their homes. Inside is cooler from all of them using the air conditioner all day to keep away from the heat. I find one room in particular that seems someone tried to clean up whoever trashed it. I use some of the equipment to make sure I don't get rusty; I need to make sure I can fight back no matter what.

Finishing my exercises, I head back to my office in the pack house because I left all of my paperwork there which I need to put with the other ones in my office at home. Quickly grabbing them I head home and as I open the door waking Scarlett up, I ask if she wants to sleep in my bed and she quickly declines. Without an argument I go upstairs dumping all the paper onto my desk before I change and crawl into bed falling asleep as my head hits the pillow.
