Trickster Wolf

Chapter Seventeen

Darius POV

Camilla storms out of the building and made it all of the way into the car park which is surrounded by a small forest trees and shrubs. I quickly follow her watching as she clenches and unclenches her fists, looking as though she is about to punch something nearby, I just have to hope that it won't be me. We walk into a clearing that's a safe place away from the party and anyone that could see us.

She starts to circle me and suddenly pounces at me changing into her wolf form, I dodge and make it a fair fight by shifting as well. She lunges again and I narrowly dodge not wanting to hurt her but knowing that I can only dodge for so long. She snaps her jaws at my trying to nip me while I move to try and pin her to the ground, I pause to look to a side focusing my attention on the sound of a twig snapping and crunching of leaves by a person on my left a few meters away.

Another set of footsteps and another. I decide the best way out of this unlucky situation is to bolt into the woods and make sure Camilla is following closely behind me. It doesn't appear to she has noticed that were being followed by hunters. Sharp claws dig into my side as I get pushed sideways into the floor dirt and sticks tangle in my coat. A small yelp escapes as I try to hide my surprise and pain and I quickly stand back up. I look around to see if the hunters are nearby but a soft click and then a yelp whine emits from Camilla, I turn to see a tranquiliser dart sticking out of her leg. Quickly running over to her and pulling it out I help her to run.

Finding a cave that should be suitable to hide both of us from the hunters, we crawl in, but she hesitates and backs out growling around her as she runs off and I see her jump on a person clawing and biting. They fall to the ground as she runs at the next person as soon as they fall to the ground. She starts to slow down but I see one of the hunters pointing their gun towards her and before she can do anything a run out of the cave and jump on the person knocking them over and biting their throat out. I suddenly feel a sharp sting in my side, and I watch as Camilla runs off back towards the party. Running in front of her and try to lead her back to the cave, she reluctantly follows my movements, but I think its more due to the fact of more hunters that way.

Two more shots are fires, and they both find their mark with the effects starting to take their toll on me, but I know that we can make it to the cave where they shouldn't be able to get to us. We make it inside Camilla sluggishly falls to the ground completely knocked out. I start to stagger as well as my vision going astray as my eyes want to close without my permission. I hear someone step in the entrance of the cave, standing over Camilla protectively and I start growling at the person. They wait at the entrance for a minuet watching me shake my head trying to rid the drowsiness, they laugh and say something, but it just sounds distorted with the world tilting as it fades to black with everything disappearing.

Jostling away as everything moves around causing me to bump into walls. Looking around I can see that I'm in a small rectangular metal container with hardly any space to turn around in a normal circle. There are small holes around the box that I can see out of but the only thing that I can see is another container.

Smelling the air, I catch Camilla's scent coming from the other container. I can see some of her white fur coat through the holes, I can tell that she's mostly awake. The truck moves again causing me to lose balance and lean into the wall. The truck stops and the back door opens letting light in as a growl rumbles in my throat as the people walk in and move the container out of the truck and into a cement room with metal bars. It smells musty with other lingering scents of other animals from being in here. Mostly it smells of humans that are wondering about doing their job and those who are tasked with unloading us.
