10 minutes later

Sonic:

I followed Metal back down the hall to the medical bay after a few more things in the cafeteria were said, still dying of laughter. "You did great! And, now they know the rumors were false too!" I wheezed, grabbing his hand.

"Yeah, and now they Know that I only have one eye and they have a psychotic resistance leader!" My copy stated, rolling his eye and walking into the room. Tearing off the purple lace dress, he threw on a pair of pants I handed to him before melting back into the bed.

"Oh, you two are back. Good. I was just about to ask Metal to get a drink because I noticed the glass I poured three and half hours ago didn't appear to be touched." The nurse pointed out, watching Metal's face pucker at the thought of water, before she continued. "I'll be glad to stab you with an I.V. if you reject otherwise." At that my look-a-like grabbed the cup and glared at the nurse, taking the smallest mouse sized sip possible. She smiled, and turned around, continuing to organize one of the shelves, Metal immediately spitting out the water right back into the cup.

"Met-" he put his finger up to shush me and gave me that look that said "shut up and forget about what you just saw". Deciding to change the topic off of the awkward silence, I began to speak. "So, Metal... what should we call you now? I mean you're not made of metal anymore, and I don't think you want to be called flesh!" I laughed, watching his face twist at the horrible name. "Or instead of flesh, we could call you medal as in, you won a medal for the most amount of stitches!" I tried to continue, but he cut me off.

"Or, everyone can just call me Metal. Take the "Sonic" off the end and make it just Metal!" He grumbled, clearly wanting to be left alone now. Almost taken back by his sudden miserable attitude, I bit my tongue as I thought of a less sharp response. Failing to think of a reply to his mood swing, I changed gears and, for the second time, to talk about something else.

"Okay... you wanna go for a run? Usually helps clear my mind." The nurse closed over the cabinet she was working in and shook her head.

"It wouldn't be wise in the slightest. The stitches probably haven't even begun to close any of the wounds yet." Metal ignored the nurse.

"Yeah, I think I want to go for a run suddenly!" I sighed, but shrugged, also deciding to ignore the nurse and signaled him to follow me. I opened the door and led him down the hall, before Knuckles stopped me.

"Hey, do you know where Tails is? I can't find him and the troop I've organized to find the survivors in your -no offense Metal- copy's latest attack, needs his doohickey to scan for them. Speakin', where are you two off to?" Knuckles rambled out.

"Oh, we're going for a run! But I think Tails went for a walk in that city you were talking about. If you want, we can go find him." I replied, keeping a close eye on Metal when I noticed him start acting weird.

Organic Metal:

Sonic and Knuckles chattered on about chaos knows what for what seemed to be hours, before the red echidna dragged my look-a-like away. "Metal, we'll be back in five minutes. As I've said before, don't die in the meantime." Sonic instructed. I sighed in relief as he walked away.

"Okay, you can come out now." I said, a child from the nursery popping out from behind a plant pot.

"Hehe! Thanks for not telling on me! What's your name? Mine's Hem!" The mischievous hedgehog curiously asked, his amber eyes glowing brighter than the sun.

"Oh, umm... My name's Metal Sonic - but I prefer Metal. Nice to meet you, Hem" I replied, the light blue hedgehog's smile growing.

"Whaooo! You're Metal! Like the not-so-one-and-only assassin android, serial killer, rival to Sonic the Hedgehog, puppet to doctor Eggman, Metal Sonic!!!" He bursted.
